great way to get started milling
this works great. i did drill holes for the set screws in my chainsaw as have many others in their review but I was already planning on that and it. i was cutting freehand and while i did a pretty good job this has helps immensely. if you want to try to mill some logs this is a great way to get started

Pretty Neat Device
I used it with a Husqvarna Rancher 460 chain saw w/24 in bar. The log is hardwood: pecan. I made the planks with this vertical chainsaw mill (you can find how to videos on you tube under "vertical chainsaw mill" I didn't use a ripping chain, might have made for cleaner cuts. My result was the rough cut bar top shown in the last picture. For the price, this is great. If you have to mill a lot of wood - not your best option. Be sure to really tighten the device bracket to the chainsaw bar, the fasteners vibrate loose, then you have to sift through saw dust on the ground to recover them.

Works, but assembly instructions are terrible.
Works well. Terrible instructions. Study the images closely in order to assemble. I believe one's success depends on technique and your set up.

Pivot bolt to small diameter for pivot tube!
I was excited to get this product because of the welded construction. However, there is a major manufacturing defect. The pivot tube is to large for the pivot bolt. This creates a great amount of slop in the pivot which would make consistent straight cuts impossible. The second defect is the saw clamp mechanism. The corners are to big to allow it to pivot, so the saw can only make a limited depth cut. I could have fixed this with a grinder to round off the corners a little. But because of the first issue I mentioned above, it was not worth the effort. If the manufacture would have used a properly sized bolt and pivot tube, I would be telling a different story...

You get what you pay for
Horrible quality. Threads were buggered up from the start. I guess nobody at quality control was working that day. Being as there is nothing to hold the end of the bar steady, there is some play and you will not get a smooth cut. I did manage to get the job done. It just wasn't as good as I had hoped.

No need to drill, tools to install included.
Fast delivery, very competitive price. I just started using my chainsaw and bought this accessory to start doing some art work with wood. I am very impressed of how easy is to set up and use (I did not drill any holes in my brand new chainsaw) and it stay steady during the cutting. Photos attached.

Take your time for quality.
As designed hasn't broken yet. Some tweaks as expected to be square, take your time on the initial pass.

Junk
Absolute junk. Buy a big saw and alaskan sawmill over these stupid things. One piss poor design. Had to make a bushing to go between bar clamp and handle. The set screws that clamp entire device to chainsaw bar wont stay tight or even stay in contraption which causes the chain to end up attempting to cut the steel clamp. Real good for a chain… NOT!! Not real good for attempting to cut live edge off board. Way to much slop and boards come out crooked. Still need wedges to help cut planking from logs also.

Worked well for what I had to do. Making 8” x8 “ beam

Will not allow you to bolt parallel to chainsaw. Therefore you have to start your cut on an angle. It can still do the job.

First things I noticed is that the instructions are garbage and no details on how to safely install and use the mill. 2nd they give you nothing to hold the bolts when tightening. Not huge problem had my own tools. Not sure how your going to safely mount this to your bar. See image. I have a horizontal mill and it bolts right into the bar. I see this as a huge safety issue if you're bar was ever to slip out, Your going to an emergency room and if like me hours from hospital you might want to rethink this. I haven't used it yet, but the design makes me cringe. I dislike the way the bolts are to adjust the widths. I also dislike that your going have to compensate for the yoak when mounting the board where it should be flush-ish with the frame. I might improve my review after try it out, wish me luck 🤞.. after 4 hours of setting this thing up and still haven't even made my first cut. I suggest buying a horizontal mill, this thing is nothing but garbage 🗑️. If you do want a straight cut your pretty much scrapping 3/4 of the logs.. 1 good board per log, unless someone smarter than me can figure this out or some dam instructions would be great too.

Although I won’t be using this for another few weeks, this looks to be great quality with a separate tool pouch and 3 free chainsaw files. It also comes with a little picture brochure of the product. Spend the extra $5 for the steel chainsaw bar locking collar, you’ll thank yourself in the long run. I’ll post a follow-up once I’ve used it!
