I bought this as I wanted to step up from the cheaper end of the market to a more middle range offering. I had looked at a few reviews and the Shakespearse SALT Surf Long Cast looked like it would suit my needs. And at £43.99 on Prime Day this became a no brainer. One this to note though is that NOT all Shalespeare SALT's are equal. There is a large quality difference in the range. It comes with one aluminium spool and one resin spool. It has 8 bearings and has a lovely quality fell about it. I loaded mine with 80lb shock leader, 40lb braid and 30lb mono and I find this a most cost effective set-up. In short, I am extremely happy with this reel as it has really increased the range I can cast. This in turn means I now have greater choice at where to place my bait. I don't "have" to cast way out but at least I now "can" cast way out if I want to.

the 8000 is a large weighty lump but for what i paid for it through Amazon Warehouse i cannot complain. It seems to me the larger the reel, you get far better quality if you spend more.
