This is more of a buffer than a file and I absolutely love it. I've been using the foam block buffers with the textured surfaces glued onto them for years, mostly to smooth out my nails prior to applying polish. I usually end up shredding them after several uses. This little fella smoothes out ridges and leaves a shiny nail surface with very little effort. Since it's glass it doesn't get shredded! The case is also really pretty.
