Does this actually help for back plan when you're actually at work on the sales floor?

Helped with my shoulder and a torn rotator cuff after a serious accident, seemed to help support the weight of my arm. It had a moderate effect for my wife on her back. She seemed to get a little temporary relief.

Can it be use for swimming?

Yes it can,I use this tape on my left knee cuz I've had two surgerys and it helps support and keep my knee snug. This tape last between four to six days when applied to skin right. I shower two to three times daily,morning,after work and workout. If you want for this tape to stick for longer period of time,they sell a skin adhesive that you spray on skin,wait one to two minutes for adhesive to activate place tape however you want to apply and your good for a week to eight days or so.
