We lost power for 48 hours and I luckily had just ordered these. They take 4 AA batteries each and put out a ton of light! You lift them up out of the base to turn them on and push them back down to turn them off. Each of my kids took one to their room and then I put one in the bathroom and kitchen and living room. I love the tote handle because I could set them on the door handle, making it easy to find one in the dark! And I ran them basically non stop for 48 hours and the batteries are still going strong, and they are Amazon brand batteries!
