it works
works fine for what I needed. Some other person left a negative review about the adapter not having a phone jack. He lies. The adapter does have RJ45 jacks. The RJ45 will accept either RJ11 or RJ45, if he had taken the 3 seconds needed to try it he's see that it works. What a poop face! Any way it works perfectly for what I needed. I run a gigabit network and read somewhere that this slows the connected devise to 10/100, maybe it does but I can't detect it. Much cheaper and simpler than running a separate phone line.

Ethernet works, phone line does not UNLESS ethernet is directly connected to modem/router
EDIT: Changing it to 3.5 stars as the product works SO LONG AS you do not use an ethernet switch. The Ethernet wire must be run directly from the modem/router or the RJ11 will not work. I think the seller needs to state this in his description. As some are stating, the ethernet works fine but the phone line does not work at all. Plain and simple.

Does the Job
I was confronted with a bunch of CAT5 cables where the electrician put CAT5 tips on all the wires in our electronics closet. I had no phone plug lines, as a result, that I could plug in anywhere in my home. These adapters work very well. You need the pair to convert each end of the line AND you need to purchase small CAT5 wires and phone wires. I also purchased a phone jack strip to plug everything into and then plug the jack strip into my modem. It sounds complicated but it isn't. The reason I needed this is that companies I deal with use the archaic method of transmission, faxing. So, I must have a dial tone for my fax machine and I refuse to pay for a fax service online

Utter Failure....Nobody knows why...
I was pleasantly surprised to get 2 in the pack. The listing said I would but I missed it. That's where the pleasant part of this purchase ended. Neither worked...Hooked up like I should, and nothing.... Even had the tech support crew come to the school and they said it should work. Nothing! They ended up getting done what we wanted, but it was way more complicated for them than this....

Great adapters, just be careful when plugging in your cabling
The builder of my home wired all of the phone jacks using Cat5 cabling. A couple of years ago I decided to take advantage of that by converting all of them over to RJ45 data checks for hardwired network connections to optimize things like video streaming for our TVs. After I'd completed everything and we were enjoying the faster speeds, I realized I'd inadvertently gotten rid of a feature we liked with our DirecTV boxes: on-screen caller ID. When I later learned that half of the pairs in Cat5 aren't even used for Ethernet, I thought about splitting the connection using a couple of keystone jacks (one voice and one data). However, I wondered if there was a pre-made adapter that would do that for me. That's when I found these. They worked perfectly to restore the DirecTV caller ID functionality over the single Ethernet cable. You do have to be careful on the splitter end, however, that you plug in the correct cable to the correct port lest you have phone company line voltage injected into your network switch or router. I dinged one star for having RJ45 jacks on both the data and voice ports. It looks like the company that makes these might've been trying to save some production costs by using pre-existing RJ-45 splitter tooling. If the voice port was RJ11, it would eliminate the possibility of potentially frying your network hardware.

Worked great.
I have CAT5 run in my house which I mostly use to share my internet connection. I recently wanted to install a speaker phone in my office and only had one port that was being used to wire my office computer to the internet. This was the perfect solution as I was able to install one plug at the wire nest where my router and phone switch are and another at the office terminal. Have been using it for 2 months and the phone and network connections are working great together.

Not for use with MagicJack Go
Did not work for me. I use MagicJack Go for my phone service, and I guess that is why they didn't work. I thought about how exactly the adapter works (ethernet only uses 4 of the 8 wires) and I made my own adapters that do work properly. I had RF45 connectors and the tools to attach the connectors, so a trip to the $1.00 store for two phone jacks and I was in business.
