The quality of this shelf is the first thing you notice. It’s heavy duty and beautiful. Perfect proportions for displaying books, toys and baskets/bins for storage. Assembly is straightforward if you use your noggin. Just make sure you have all of the sides with the grooves facing the back for the backboard pieces to slide in. I started assembling on the floor but found it easier lining up the pieces with the shelf standing up as it started coming together. This shelf is priced right and meant to last. I will definitely buy again from this company in the future!

So glad I made this investment. I love the look and find it to be the perfect size for our home and our needs. It took about 45 minutes to assemble, but the instructions were clear and it was manageable (did it by myself!) Very solid quality.

I have purchased 3 ECR4Kids Birch bookcases, two with 8 sections and one with 5 sections. As a soon to be grandmother, I wanted to make sure we had something that would be extremely safe for our soon to be grandchild. These are made with solid wood, the kind you would find in classroom. All 3 of the ones we bought have come with complete pre-drilled parts and easy to follow directions. I have assembled each within 30 minutes. I have not had any issue with the wood splitting while assembling them. They are definitely sturdy, and are made to last for years. Likewise, the wheels seem strong enough to support a heavy load. For each one though, I did have to use a different Allen wrench then the one that came with it. For two of the bookcases the wrench was too small. On one case I actually stripped a couple bolts and had to finish tightening them with a Channellock. The last case I put together, the Allen wrench was too big to fit in the holes. The issue of the Allen wrench is a small matter – it certainly isn’t a reason to not give these bookcases a RESOUNDING 5 stars.

I usually don't give reviews, but this one i had too. I am a busy mother and usually ask my husband to out things together for me, but i am glad I put the trigger on this. SO EASY TO PUT TOGETHER! I love the color, it's not as yellow as it looks... VERY STURDY and it comes with rolling Wheels as an option!!! I might get another one, very good for the price, very happy with my purchase!! 😍

If you have never assembled a piece of furniture before or are not handy with tools, this nice looking shelf unit may not be for you. Get an experienced friend to help.I don't recommend assembling this without a good quality drill/driver.When it's on its casters, the shelf unit can be tippy, especially on carpet. When in use with children anchor it to a wall (hardware not included). You may want to not use the included casters but rather install glides (hardware store item) for use on hard floors.Pros: it's a sturdy design made of plywood, not MDF, particle board or with a cardboard back. The light colored birch veneer is attractive.Cons: Assembly - there are no pilot holes for the 16 caster mounting screws. The hole locations are marked. Drill pilot holes with a bit the size of or slightly smaller than the unthreaded shank (minor diameter) of the screws (7/64" or 2.8mm). Do not drill all the way through the shelf. 3/8" or 1 cm deep is sufficient.You will need a good quality driver/drill to make the pilot holes and drive the screws. Some screws are quite long and require a lot of torque to drive. Driving these screws by hand would be a killer. If you don't have a drill/driver, most hardware or rental stores can rent you one for a nominal fee.The threaded inserts for the cam lock studs are plastic. Use a #2 Phillips screwdriver to set these screws by hand. Do not over tighten or you will strip out the plastic! Tighten by hand only.I recommend assembling the shelf unit on a table or bench if you can. Much easier on the back and knees and easier to see what you're doing.Recommended tools: #2 Phillips screwdriver, 4 mm hex wrench with a long arm (the one supplied is pretty short and the shelf support screws require a lot of torque to tighten securely), electric drill/driver and drill bit (see above), #2 Phillips and 4 mm bits for drill/driver plus drill bit for caster pilot holes, soft faced hammer or hammer and a block of soft wood for seating the back panels, magnifying glass (or an 11-year old) to see the orientation of some parts in the rather small instruction drawings.Don't be too concerned if you get some parts on backwards at first. Work slowly and the parts come apart pretty easily if you need to reposition them. It took me about an hour to assemble but you should not be surprised if it takes an inexperienced person a little longer.

Affordable price and fair quality. Better option for me than the school catalogs price.

All of the wood is splitting apart. We immediately contacted the company. Since we purchased through amazon.com there was nothing they could do. This was a product defect not an issue with packaging damage. This was a quality issue. Luckily Amazon was great and refund immediately so we could get a functional product. Directions aren't great but it's not a difficult assembly. The shelves are not sturdy. Also easily tips, if you have little ones get a sturdier shelf.

This cabinet is an amazing value for the quality. Super heavy and sturdy. Replaced some flimsy toy bins in our living room, now my toddler can easily find their toys and I have regained my sanity from the previous clutter mess.

Looks nice and quality is great. No sharp edges. Even if it is not fastened on the wall, it is sturdy. There are wheels that came with the package so there is that option to assemble the unit with it.The sizes of the cubbies are perfect for kids’ toys.However, the manual was not as detailed so it was a bit confusing to assemble the unit.

Easy to assemble and look amazing in my home day care.
