Q: What is the difference between this and august smart lock pro?

Aside from the way it looks, from my research the only difference is that the Smart Lock Pro has Apple Home support and this one doesn't. I don't use any apple products so I chose this model. It's been working great for me so far.

Q: Does this require a hub

It doesn't require a hub to unlock your door via Bluetooth on your cell phone. With a "smart keypad" you can unlock your door with by inputting your code into the keypad programmable via your cell phone. With the hub you can unlock/lock, get remote notifications through wifi, and your cellular provider, retrieve records of activity remotely, connect with other services such as IFTTT and Airbnb

Q: Do i need to buy a hub or will the echo plus with built in hub work? Im asking this question, because ones that are answered are with " i dont know"

Not sure if you are asking about the August lock or Amazon Echo. The lock uses Bluetooth to function with your phone in your home. If you wish to access it from a location outside of Bluetooth range (which is measured in a few dozens of feet) you must purchase the WiFi extender from August. And for that to work you must have WiFi in your home. Hope this helps

The easiest answer is to unlock it with the key you are using right now. If there is still battery, other options are the smartphone app, key code (with optional keypad). With wifi, Siri and Alexa, assuming the August Connect is also equipped.
