This is a fairly decent piece for the price, but the groove is irregularly shaped and very hard and smooth so it was difficult to get the sword to remain upright and it definitely would have scuffed up the scabbard over time. These problems were easily solved with some cheap black felt stickers cut to fit. I also put some on the bottom of the feet to avoid scratching my furniture. These little additions made it into a much nicer and more functional piece for less than a dollar.
