This is just a basic, no-frills light socket. My father was able to install it without difficulty and it was straightforward to do. Standard light bulbs should fit fine in this lamp holder. The rated maximum wattage for the light bulb that can be used in it is very high, so you could basically use any normal light bulb you want, even high wattage incandescent or halogen ones (just refer to the instructions to be sure). I am using these on the ceiling in the garage to screw in some LED shop lights. They are a good price, but you need to be careful when screwing them in or you can easily crack the plastic. Once installed they worked great.
