Was first time with this plant from seed. Had germination and survival issues in Spring.
I did not do well with germination on the first try. Would get a seedling. But plant would not get much bigger and peter out. Not sure if environmental, disease, me. Have never grown before. Have no prior experience with plant. I think I started to soon. Needed warmer soil temps possibly. Seemed to do better with higher temps. But still did not have a high germination rate. Once plants established did very well. Grew quite large with great foliage. This Season am starting indoors under lights if decide to have again. I liked the grown plants but took a couple tries to get them. Insects seemed to leave them alone. Did need more water than other species in same area. But plants did get larger than expected.

Sow Right Seeds, coleus mix
These have a good germination rate. The seedlings are still tiny, but are quite colorful and "happy" looking already. These seeds are so tiny, even with my glasses, I couldn't see if any of the seeds were planted. Turns out, they all spilled out into one little pot. So I have a lot all sprouted together in one pot. I'm transplanting a few seedlings at different stages of growth, hoping for a few survivors. I hadn't started any seeds in a very long time, I find seeing seeds sprout is always encouraging.

Great growing!
Pleasantly surprised how many of these seeds grew! I ended up with way more coleus plants than I needed. Thank you for great seed packet

So many seeds!
So far so good! They are slow to grow. But they're doing well and it's getting close to time for me to split these guys up into separate containers. A couple have a little bit of color coming in. That will take some time before I can see what variety of color and pattern I have so far. I've planted barely 10% of the pack of leaves. I'm carefully storing the rest for now. I am growing them for houseplants and I may grow more later for my neighbor bit let me tell you- if you plant them wisely...and Care for the seeds carefully and have patience...you will get A TON of plants from one pack. Excellent purchase and I will buy again..coleus is such a pretty and diverse plant. I adore them so much. And these seeds had great variety and is a great value for the price. None habe died either. They are all very healthy and I recommend always keeping them moist as seeds and once they sprout only bottom watering them. Or else they become insanely leggy. But that is a given. I just wanted to share that for any newbies reading this. EDIT: I have now grown 3 different batches of seeds from this one envelope and still have over half of them left! I am getting 100% germination rate it's fantastic! Some gorgeous colors coming in too. Eben on the younger batch I can see some nice colors and patterns coming in. I can't wait until they mature and I can see their true colors!

4-stars - so far
Good seed can be hard to discern and/or describe, but bad/not-so-good seed is usually obvious - once one is familiar with seed in general, as well as any given plant; until these, I'd never seen seeds of this plant but poured in the palm one can see how consistent the texture, color and 'sheen' are, and healthy indicators those are. A great 1st step passed; stage 2 - germination. I'm expecting to get to upgrade this review to the full 5, but only time - and growth - will tell. I've waited to review this because it isn't always an easy thing to evaluate/describe. I sewed the seed about 2 weeks ago, and as of last night and today I'm seeing some sprouts; right on time per the data on the pkg. I have them under a grow light as it's still too early for the natural cycle to trigger any growth. Coleus and 4 types of Hostas are some I'm undertaking to start for market purposes, although in the high plains desert is a long way from their more natural environ, so I don't expect it to be so easy to pull off. I like good challenges, especially when the potential reward is this gorgeous - coleus is that and then some. I'm hoping to see all the potential color morphs the genes of these plants contain, especially the black variants; those may require obtaining the specific seed for - we'll see. While I've seen many coleus plants in my life, I've yet to see the flowers in real life and I'm anxious to, now that sprouts have appeared. Sprouts aren't all that photogenic, so I'll wait until more growth to start adding pics to this evaluation/review.
