I needed to install my new nVidia RTX 2060 Super video display card into my Dell Precision Tower 3620 computer. The original Dell power supply in the Dell Precision T3620 is only 260W and it has the 8-pin interface plugged into the motherboard (not the 24-pin). I had two issues: (1) More power for the nVidia RTX 2060 Super video display card. (2) 8-pin interface to plug the new bigger capacity power supply into the system board. The COMeap 24 Pin to 8 Pin ATX PSU Power Adapter Cable is the perfect "fix" for my needs. I got a new replacement power supply (460W). I attached the COMeap 24 Pin to 8 Pin ATX PSU Power Adapter Cable to the bigger capacity power supply and the Dell Precision T3620 system board (was easy to install). It works perfect. Then I removed the hard drives cage from the Dell computer case to make room for my full size nVidia RTX 2060 Super video display card (you need to remove more than just the pop rivets securing the hard drives cage to the computer case). Finally, the Dell Precision Tower 3620 computer is functional with bigger capacity power supply using the COMeap 24 Pin to 8 Pin ATX PSU Power Adapter Cable and the nVidia RTX 2060 Super video display card.

Dell and HP have switched to proprietary ATX connectors again because of the sheer number of counterfeit parts on the market. Thankfully this adapter exists to convert an off the shelf ATX PSU to a Dell motherboard. It is a bit thick, fugly, and clunky, but it gets the job done. It comes with a little velcro strap so you can tie excess wire together. Despite another review, I don't honestly how you can plug the adapter in the wrong way and fry your mother board. It seems to be only able to go in one way, even with great force. This is a necessity if you have a Dell Optiplex or Precision desktop motherboard with an 8-pin PSU plug.

I used this when i needed a new PSU for my Optiplex 3020 and 1080ti. It worked great always had me scared though. It would get really hot on the PCB in the middle and the shrink wrap wasn't shrunk very well. Also its is unnecessarily long. With my PSU long 24pin it was unbearable to manage in the 3020 case. I ended up pulling out the disk drive and bundling up the cable and sticking it in there. I did use this cable for almost a year and no issues so I can't complain too much.

After doing a lot of research, I chose this adapter because of the (from what I could tell, anyway) better QC regarding the wiring. Sure enough, I checked everything as best I could before use with a volt meter and it checked out. I went ahead and plugged it in and the computer fired right up! Sweet! The only complaint is that the wiring adds 12" to your power supply MOBO cable. I don't know why the wires have to be that long but for my use case they just got gently stuffed in there and won't be seen unless the panel comes off. I don't know about longevity, but I'm happy so far!

I purchased a used Dell AC305AM-00 power supply for a friend, thinking it was the right one, but the standard size connector didn't match up with his motherboard. I missed that there's an API P/N of 9030 that his old power supply has, versus the 8050 of the one I purchased. It seems like all the AC305AM power supplies on eBay are 8050 variants and won't work. Reading the comment from the seller and statements from people online that the voltages may be different made me nervous, but I thought that maybe since it was also a Dell power supply I was using, it might be OK. This adapter worked perfectly, and there are no issues using it with the Dell power supply I mentioned.
