This is a good kit for my needs, because I'm not an avid adventurer. I really only keep it in my car for emergencies or for when I go camping. Overall, I'm pleased! The pros: - It's not overly bulky or overly heavy to carry with my camping gear. - It does have the essentials for emergencies (a whistle, a small emergency blanket, a flashlight, a knife and a little tool that can be used as a spoon/fork/knife). Note: I did not test the items so I don't know how effective the blanket is or how well the knife cuts. - I've heard of kits where once you take out the items, it is impossible to put them back in in a way where you are able to close the box. I didn't have this problem with this kit. - It comes with a little instruction manual to explain what each item is. The cons: - If only used for emergencies, I think the material is good enough. If you're the kind of person who goes on a lot of adventures in the middle of nowhere, you may want to invest in something a bit more sturdy. - Out of curiosity, I shook the survival bracelet a bit and noticed the compass would sometimes end up showing a different direction. I tested this a bit, and it seems that about once every 3x it is shaken, it will indicate a different direction when it stops. - Be aware that the flashlight does not have a battery in it, so make sure you get one and insert it before you store the kit in your car or bag. - I think the mention of '24 pieces' is misleading. I counted and recounted the items, and there are definitely not 24. Even the instruction manual only lists 16 items, including the carrying case, which isn't really a survival tool itself. My guess is that they are counting some items as multiple (for example, maybe the little baggy with the 4 little pieces of hemp to start a fire are counted as 4 items instead of 1, and the little fishing gear kit counts as 5 items because it has 2 fishing hooks, 2 fishing baits and 1 fishing line).

I will be giving this to my adult son as he lives in a remote area that is prone to earthquakes and also has tsunami warning/evacuations. I know they have been putting together a "go bag" for different disasters and this kit would be great for that. He also enjoys hiking and camping. This kit has so many useful items in it in a compact, lightweight, and easy to grab pouch. Everything in this kit seems sturdy and well made. The survival knife is impressive and suited to cut most anything. Many of the items have everyday uses, not just for emergencies. There is a combination spoon and fork that has a can opener. There is a flashlight (you do need to supply your own AA battery). The glass breaker also has a pen. These are all things that I have needed on simple trips. I will be getting another one of these to keep in my car. Any man or woman could use one of these kits in their vehicle.

Everything came in the box, very good quality. I saw a review saying the knife won't close. I was having a problem with that, but I discovered it was a frame lock knife. So if you are having trouble closing the knife look up how to close a frame lock knife. Overall very good pack would buy it again. If it was 40 dollars it would still be a good deal.

I was pleasantly surprised. Really surprised, actually, at how many items were inside. The quality of the items seemed pretty solid for the price point as well. This is probably the best “giftable” EDC kit that I’ve found to date. My only negative note would be that the instructions really need to be written in better English. If I had to guess, I would assume someone in China put their instructions through Google translator and then just printed whatever came out on the English side. It’s mostly legible, but the translation could definitely use a more proficient editor. I did like that they included a sentence or two explaining each type of use, not just each individual item (since all the items have multiple uses… obviously!). :)

It’s a cool idea, tons of gadgets that seem to be good quality. I haven’t put it to the test yet but I plan to add it to my backpacking kit this summer. It would be 5 stars but the box it came in was completely destroyed. The carrying case is a complete loss. I’ll have to find another way to carry it all.
