Bought in oct already quit working, what the warranty for replacement

JUNK! This piece of equipment is garbage and so is the warranty. The company will say you installed it incorrectly so the warranty is voided. Stay away from Saniflo Saniswift!

How does this system function in a kitchen where occasional food pieces may wash down the drain?

Has anyone used this on a concrete slab home? Such as an Eichler style home or midcentury modern.

Yes I put one in at a conceret slab home, for stackable washer dryer that was added to a closet. Ran drain up and over to toilet vent pipe to drain it. Works great

why do i need a vent to pump utility sink to outside ?

The pump will pull extra air to help force the water out without pulling it through the intake line...so it doesn't suck the water out of the utility sink. Normally a regular drain will pull air in through the vent line so that the water flows properly and does not pull a vacuum. It is a functional and code requirement. If this is only for a utility sink...not in a bathroom or regular plumbing situation...then you can just install a one-way air valve that can be found in any home improvement store. This will just keep it from sucking stuff into the pump. Just note that this may not meet code and I believe the instructions say not to do this. I can't understand why, as long as it has a fresh air supply. Hope this helps.
