Brain Quest never disappoint me. All the materials are well explained and definitely keep the kids engaged. I love the Summer books because it really keeps the kids motivated without thinking is "school work" , each session has the right ammount of activities which helps them to keep their mind active and preparing them for the next school year.

We used the book for our upcoming 2nd grader gifted student who learns two grade levels ahead. This book has a theme that weaves the different subjects together (reading, writing, math, science). This way it is more engaging than other summer bridge books we tried, and also covers a good amount of the knowledge. The map is very motivating and she pushes her attention span limit to get multiple pages done at once. She feels excited to work on the problems when prompted or would start doing so without asking. I already purchased her the grade 4-5 book for the next summer.

There was enough variety and different things to do in these books that it kept my soon-to-be 4th grader engaged. I also bought him the "Summer Bridge Activities - Grades 3 - 4, Workbook" (more traditional math and reading). Of the two, he definitely preferred this book, though I think the other book might have done a better job of preparing him for 4th grade. This one did a better job of making him a well-rounded person, since it is a bit more non-traditional, outside of the box, and just overall more fun (great stickers and a map to plan your learning activities and track progress). I also bought the K-1st grade books in both series. They were pretty much identical, just at a different grade level. So, what will I purchase next summer? Probably both sets again. They each fill different niches. They both seem to have helped the kids in their classes this year. But if I had to choose one or the other, it would depend on my goal. If I wanted the kids to do better on standardized tests, then the Summer Bridge Activities series would be better. If I wanted them to be original thinkers who are better able to handle real-world learning, then I would go with these books. So, yeah, I personally would buy this book if I was only going to buy one of the series.

The pages of this book literally fall apart. I have had to tape and retape it to keep it all in the same place. Besides this, book is really nice.

I've tried different activity books, and the Brain Quest ones seem to appeal to my kids the most. The level seems accurate to what kids are learning, though I "size up" a grade. The artwork is appealing and quality of the book itself is nice. It comes with a poster and stickers to track you progress which is fun. I wish they produced multiple versions for each grade because we go through one within half a year.
