Assembly was relatively fast, though parts weren't exactly easy. For example, getting some of the bolts in was a little tricky. Also the instructions aren't great, and are missing at least one of the bolts. There are three total bolts that hold the crossbar into the main unit, two in the front and one in the side. The instructions only show one in the front and one in the side. Also, the end-caps on the tubes are only barely glued on to the ends, and don't have any extra plastic that extends into the tube. Very easy for them to pop off, and then you either leave the tube open or glue the cap back on. But none of that affects the functionality of the machine.The rower itself is very quiet, easy to use, easy to store. It's a great workout, and takes up a quarter of the space (when stored upright) that our treadmill did. Very heavy duty, and handles my husband's weight just fine.The pedals leave something to be desired. For me, they're fine. My husband is a big person though, and the pedals were not made for people with big feet. For starters, he was turning his toes outward a little bit as he was rowing. Admittedly this is bad form, but he was learning. And in the process, BOTH velcro straps failed. The metal link on one side kept bending open and letting the strap fall off. The other strap just ripped across and broke entirely. So we have to replace the velcro straps on the pedals. ALSO, the back lip of the pedals (where your heels go) bites into my husband's foot. This is apparently a common complaint from people with larger feet. So beware. It doesn't make the machine unusable, but he definitely has to wear shoes.Overall this machine is definitely worth the money though, in my opinion. Very heavy duty and well made, looks like it will last a long time. The swishing water is also pleasant, and so it's easy to use while someone else is trying to sleep in another room. (Our treadmill was so loud you could hear it from across the house.) If you want greater resistance, there's nothing to adjust - you just pull faster. Wish the seat had a back like the picture shows, but I already knew it wouldnt come with it based on other reviews. When it arrives, boy is it heavy! We opened it up to assemble it and the nuts/bolts/screws were everywhere - not even in a bag. Many were missing - fell out of the box on the way? The seat bottom/bar was rusty. Two of the caps on the feet were broken. I reached out to Amazon and received another one. We had to use the new box to wrap up the old one and then drag it back outside so the shipper could come get it. It took them a couple of reminders to come get it. The 2nd one was also rusty in the seat so I guess we are stuck with that rust. It had broken feet caps too but we were able to get enough parts from the 2, to make 1 whole one. It works well enough now but it was so much hassle.
