Pennington Smart Patch Bermudagrass 10lb 200 sq. ft. Grass Seed Bare Spot Repair with Mulch and Fertilizer

Within 48 hours several ant colonies decided to make home inside of my patch repair... they even took it 10 ft away and made a new giant mound nearby with the ingredients of this bag.... Update: originally rated this 1 star but I kept watering it for 2 weeks every day. The patches almost completely filled in now with new grass to my surprise. It was only effective on the spots that I removed the dead grass from though. Cannot use it on top of dead grass, has to be fresh ground. But took the bare spot in my front lawn to 90% filled in 2-3 weeks. Taking my review from 1 to 5! Maybe the ants helped after all...

Did nothing. More mulch than actual seed. What a waste of big money at $35 a bag. 7 days, what a joke it’s been a month. I even tried to pick out just some seeds from the leftover in the bag and add it, but nothing. Not sure how they got great reviews. All my son did was rip up some lawn next to the driveway. Guess I’ll see what a patch of sod can do.

I just bought my 1st home and landscaping was a big thing for me. I want when people drive by my house, that my landscaping is as beautiful as the house. I did my research on Bermuda grass before I chose this brand to go with. Making sure that it would grow well here in my area Texas. Once I did that, I plowed my front yard getting rid of the ugly old grass. I then used a weed killer and sprayed on the soil in hopes to get rid of any weeds. After about 2 weeks of spraying the weed killer I went ahead and sprinkled my Bermuda grass seeds on the area I did sprinkle a bit heavy because I wanted a full thick look. Once I was done doing that, I raked lightly over the soil so the seeds could mix in with the soil. I then watered the area. I did buy a sprinkler set here on Amazon that made it alot easier to water. It helped alot. I wasn't outside standing with a water hose in my hand. It took about 2 to 3 weeks before I began noticing the grass. And as the warmer weather came in the grass continued to grow. The key thing was watering. I made sure I watered at least 2 times a day. I did my first cut a month and 1 week after seeding. My advice is to be patient do the process right and water your grass. The results will come.

I planted seeds and watered them every day, but not a single one sprouted. I’ll try again later in fall, but it’s a bummer. Also I used almost the whole jag for the two 3x3 ft spots. The jag has a lot of mulch so you basically getting just a little bit of seeds.

This product is fricken' amazing! You do have to keep it watered regularly (hard to remember sometimes), but even in spots where I have not got grass to grow for several years, I NOW HAVE GRASS! A little expensive, but it does work. I did have to reapply in some areas. Definitely "rough-up" soil before spreading to give it a better chance to permiate the ground.

I followed every step exactly — prepped the area, added new topsoil, applied the Pennington Smart Patch Bermudagrass Mix as directed, and watered daily. After 21 days, nothing germinated. The return instructions said original packaging wasn’t required, so I gathered what hadn’t germinated, dropped it at UPS, and received confirmation. Amazon refunded me, then later re-billed the item as “not returned,” even though I have the UPS receipt. I’ve tried repeatedly to resolve this through the app, but it’s a loop with no real customer support. The product didn’t work, and the return process has been incredibly frustrating.
