exhaustive, complete, lots of pictures. My goal is to get an older house and restore Victorian details. This is a font of inspiration. So many houses have been gutted of all detail and charm, and this shows us what we're missing.Lots of new vocab for sub-styles of architecture, from a non-expert viewpoint. Now I can pin-point what I like and don't like in architecture frat that era.

Very good resource!

This book is not only for dreamers. It provides very interesting ideas and an abundance of informations for owners of victorian houses. It is not only for those who wants to live in an museum. This book also shows you possibilities to preserve the feeling and the beauty of old houses and achieve the comfort of modern times. I also own an old house(1895), so I know of the difficulties arising from former renovations (such as made in the 1970s). Here you can find ideas to re-establish the original charm of the house.So I can say this book is very useful when you need inspiration for your own projects in your vintage home but it also provides an abundance of information for all who are interested in historical buildings and interior. If you plan to buy a victoran home, I think it would be wise to invest in this book first.
