why does it splash out water through the hole on the lid as it cooks? Am I doing something wrong? it makes a big mess...

The hole is so loud the steam to exit the pot. If you're getting a lot of starch from that, I would recommend that you wash the rice three or four times rinsing it so that you get the starch out. I always wash my rice before I cook it. You'll get a cloudy water of starch when you wash it. Then add your water once you drain the starchy water out. Hope that helps.

Why do you show a video for a whole other size and model and liner? Not to mention that darn fool lady used a metal fork on a non stick surface.

What kind of question is that ? I bought a stainless steel rice cooker. No Teflon coating . Actually I love it so much I bought another one for my summer home

What is the temperature for warm function?

I’m not sure. But this is a rather unsophisticated appliance. It’s worth the cost, but do not expect it to keep the cooked rice at a perfectly warm and moist condition. In my experience, if you do not remove the cooked rice soon after the device switches itself from Cook to Warm, the rice will dry out and adhere to the bottom of the pan.

what is the difference between the old version and the new version

The difference is the old version was a non-stick The new version is stainless steel. As far as I'm concerned that's a big upgrade.
