Simply the best by ANY imaginable measure.
When I discovered these about 10 years ago after 30 years as a professional plumber, I was delighted. EVERY other sink strainer design I've installed has a shortcoming either in installation ease or usability. Basic post strainers will spin and drop closed when you don't want them to. Most use a large 3 1/2" nut that's difficult to tighten properly. This unit cleverly solved all of my previous pet peaves with sink strainers. The threaded center post mount makes it ridiculously easy to hold the lower cup and gasket in place and drop the upper cup and post in and spin the post into the lower half with 2 fingers till snug. Then center it and finish tightening from top with a screwdriver and then snug the post tight w/ pliers. You can use the included thin rubber gasket or putty to seal in stainless steel sinks. Any sink with a tapered opening needs putty to seal. Don't make the most common DIY error and use too much putty. Just barely more than needed to fill the gap between sink and strainer. Just a thin skin w/ stainless sinks. Only sinks w/ a flat surface under the lip of the strainer will seal w/ the thin rubber gasket. 5 stars for usability, as the spring-loaded ball in the post keeps it up and open till you push it down to fill the sink. The abundant length of the center mount post makes this suitable for paper thin steel up to 3/4" thick iron or composite sinks. The brushed finish blends great w/ stainless, brushed nickel, or chrome faucets. Units I've installed 10 years ago still look and work good. The post and gasket will sometimes come apart from basket in shipping. I've included pictures of proper reassembly orientation of parts. And always when first installing grab the post w/ pliers as pictured and hold and spin the basket tight so it does not come apart with use. Enjoy!

Best drain
The best! I love the multi functionality of it

It's plastic, color will not wear off
I had a couple very expensive oil rubbed bronze sink drains for about 5 years. the one that was used all the time looked terrible. I bought this one because it was plastic and would't scratch off. After a couple months of use, it looks great. It is well made and was easy to install. I will be buying another for my other sink.

black strainer
This black strainer matches my swanstone black sink perfectly. It looks and works great. My only small complaint is that when you take off the strainer the attached piping is noticably white and not black. Not a big deal as I leave the strainer in the drain all the time just I thought it was strange not to have it black also.

Try this before spending big $$'s...functionally/physically great for new installation
I had considered brass/bronze/copper...all reviews indicated issues with those, and they were pricey...$50 and higher. Knowing that I can pick up a SS sink drain/strainer at the hardware store for under $10...I decided that this product would be worth a try. This unit was a perfect color match for my oil-rubbed-bronze single-handle bar sink faucet. I installed it in a composite granite sink, followed the instructions and it fit perfectly. The installation is a bit unique, in that there is a center SS screw that you insert from above and either hand-tighten the cup below the sink by rotating while holding the screw in place with a quarter (slotted head) from above, or simply just turn the screw with your quarter from above to ensure the rubber washer/gasket does not contort...(so...there is no "nut" to turn with a pipe wrench under the sink). The SS screw also provides a hole in the center to accept the strainer basket, which has a unique spring-loaded ball bearing to either support the basket in the up position allowing the water to drain...or just push down and it snaps in place when you want to fill the sink with water. The tail-piece mated to the drain perfectly and (per ususual) using only plumbers putty under the rim of the drain, the unit was snug and leak-free. The installation was a great finishing touch on my wet-bar installation.

look just like oil rubbed bronze
after reading reviews of the finish coming off of metal ones, I reluctantly ordered these, but for the low price, I couldn't believe the quality once they arrived. They really look metal, no one can tell they are plastic unless I tell them. The baskets seem to be sturdy enough that I won't have to worry about them breaking. I've had them about a month now. Very satisfied with this purchase.

OK, as long as you know what you are buying.
We are installing a new Corian sink with an oil-rubbed bronze faucet, and were researching matching strainers. In reading reviews for various brands, it seemed Kohler probably had the most durable that were made of brass. We really could not justify over $200 for two sink strainers and came across these. First, as it says in the description and other reviews, these are 99% plastic construction. To me, they are not much more than than dark brown plastic construction, except there is a little color that I guess would make them closer to the oil rubbed bronze. They are a matted finish, which is one thing that makes them look less like plastic. They install a little differently than the stainless steel strainers I have put in before. The top and bottom are not threaded together as the center stainless steel fitting is what you use to tighten the two pieces up, once they are in the drain hole. The center fitting you use to tighten the two sections and the rod on the bottom of the basket, is the only metal in the construction. In one way, being made out of plastic, we should not have to worry about the oil-rubbed finish rubbing off as I have seen in pictures of the brass models. It does seem a little overpriced for so much plastic compared to even the inexpensive brass models. I believe they will be fine & probably durable enough for what we need them for. Since the only Amazon picture does not show much, I am uploading a couple for others to see.

An extra catch
This is a nice supplement to stopping this items to don’t want to go down the drain, such as wedding rings, or even clog up the works, definitely a wedding ring. Fits well , no regrets, easy placement, easy clean.

Doesn’t match or matte black tap or matte black sink, it’s a dark grey colour & slightly speckled.

Yes they're plastic but they will hold up better and the price is reasonable. I believe those who say that the rubbed bronze finish can chip off of metal. There is no finish on these. The colour is the colour of the plastic.

Excelente completo si ya compraste todo el kit!

The strainer rubber seal had worn out on our 13 year old sink. I purchased these expecting only the strainer, but I was pleased to find that it also includes the sink drain and rubber gaskets.
