Live on an acreage and have several 5 gallon fuel cans. This is very close to what originally came with those cans. Husband very happy!

You'd think something as simple as this replacement gas can spout would be cake to design and produce. Apparently, for the Chinese factory that makes these, not so much. Oh, it's functional, but the super tight fitting of the collars onto the actual spout are what garner the poor rating.Apparently whoever designed the spout failed to tell whoever designed the collars the correct diameter to make the hole in them. They did get the thread pitch right, but when you slip the collars onto the spout, you have to force the collars onto the fat part of the spout. And if that weren't difficult enough, there are three, thin, cast-in ridges in the plastic circling the fat part of the neck before you get to the connection flange of the spout. The fit is so tight you cannot just rotate the collar to secure the spout to the can; you have to rotate the whole assembly, spout and collar. You can, with some effort, twist the spout to align it properly once the collar is just about tight ...but that's not how the dang thing is supposed to work. So, it goes back. I'm tired of paying good money for stuff that almost works.As for the one star "safety" rating? The only safety features for this gas can spout are imparted by the user; this is an old school spout relying on personal responsibility, care and common sense as its implied safety features. Which is the main reason I bought this thing ...so maybe I should give it 5-stars for the fact it's a straight forward simple design ...like gas cans used to be. If you *really* can't handle a gas can without a spout decked out in ridiculous "safety" features, then for sure as heck, don't get this one ...even if it did work right.

Seemed to fit but could not stop the leak. Maybe the the containers in California are designed to defeat such devices. I was really looking forward to an easy to use spout to put gas in my pickup. Too bad since the California required spouts cause me to spill way more gas than the old fashioned ones ever did. Another California law that does more harm than good but made someone a lot of money!
