Overall good - though some considerations . . .
Product came in tact, nothing missing. Love having the tool now so I only need to purchase the cans as needed. No problems with the nozzle. Odor was not as overwhelming as I was prepared for , but there is enough within the first 5 or so minutes of application that a re-breather is necessary and window open to air out. A simple dust mask will not do. The picture is not intentionally at a distance, but it gives an overall picture. This room is 10x11ish, 9foot ceilings probably made a big difference compared to had they been 8ft (in other words, I used more product per board pass). I had similar experience as another reviewer that showed the product seemingly separating in a matrix of globs and runs. For me, this only really occurred on the one remoded wall previously added by the former owner (they had framed to close an old passageway with OSB). The inner walls of the rest were the cedar type (1939 built home). The foam adhered just fine there. Here’s some considerations. First one also related to another viewer is the suppose ‘dud’ or two that oozes and doesn’t spray. Each of the two boxes of 6 cans coincidentally had 1 can that felt noticeably heavier/denser contents than the other 5 in each box. I recognized this especially when giving them the shakedown - and I shook them down vigorously. The denser feeling canister did not seem to “pressurize” any of notice. The other 5 cans that felt almost lighter and fully pressurized - all sprayed just fine. The oddball can was the oozer. Call it coincidence, but I had the suspicion then that each box had one can intentionally for large gap filling (maybe filled with less accelerant or activator). Why else would they include the straw and plastic fine-tip to put on the nozzle applicator for applications you would not want to blast foam out of (it would be a disastrous mess!). Given this theory, I shelved the other “dud” for later use. Second consideration that I failed to slow down and think on before I went through 10 cans, was the applicator nozzle trigger regulator (the screw knob on the back of the gun). I toggled that in a similar fashion as a texture hopper. But I later learned it doesn’t work the same way. The knob is meant to reduce or increase the amount of depression of the trigger itself, not open or close the channel (like on a hopper). I opened this trigger knob further than I think I should have, which I hypothesize is why the foam came out of the nozzle with a vengeance, and caused more separation of the mix or simply created too much air in the passage of the nozzle tip, hence why you may end up with real thin and easy to blow through passes, and requiring several more passes to get the coverage you want. Theoretically, next time (and I suggest), sparing one can for the experiment, to test the levels of that trigger control knob plus using different speeds of each pass and distance from the surface. I think I would have had more expansion had I slowed down just a little, and closed that trigger to half what I had it. Also you don’t want to pass back over a thicker fresh area accidentally too close - as it will blow right through what you just applied. Given how I did my first run with this type of product, I still got the result about 90% what I wanted, which was about 1-2inches depth of coverage. By no means was I expecting professional grade expansion, or to be able to more than just one room. This item is perfect to give you a 1-2 inch “seal” of insulation. I also think that dialing this trigger back some will reduce the good amount of foam “dust” that it produces. Based on all that, I have no impulse to try another brand. Once I can afford it, will try another batch of 6-12 cans and test my hypothesis.

Works well for DIY
I used this on the bottom of a manufactured home that is 1040 sq feet. I bought 5 kits and had enough plus a little extra to do touch ups. Each kit had its own gun luckily because they do clog after awhile. The product adheres well if you don't try to put too much on during the first coat. If you overspray too much then you get fly aways. So, a nice even coat then go back after an hour for second coat. Product is off-white, yellow color. It really does a nice job. Buy yourself a cheap disposable suit like Tyvek type. Get some decent gloves as the kit gives cheap ones that don't hold up. Wear a respirator and a hat to keep out of your hair. I recommend this kit. Save yourself a lot of money versus company that wants 3-4 bucks a foot.

Cheap and easy - decent results
I bought a 10x16 shed cheap I plan on turning into a man cave bar. I bought this to insulate the ceiling and I should start this with I really had no clue what I was doing just read the instructions and started. It doesn’t expand as much as I thought and the reason for 4 stars is that you need to keep the can verticals so spraying needs to be very close to 90 degrees which makes the ceiling very difficult. Also, it isn’t consistent when trying to do angles needed for a ceiling. Definitely a learning curve and doesn’t always stick well…. Extremely messy (spend the money and buy a painters gown/suit… once it dries it doesn’t come off anything including yourself or clothes. For the walls it did amazing, keeping the cans verticals it was consistent and easy to layer. The next day it was hot and as you can see from the pictures there is a very noticeable difference in the area I sprayed vs what I did not. It took me about an hour to do it. - I plan on buying another 12 cans to finish my walls and hit any spots I missed - I was going to use the fiberglass roles but this seems to work better, faster, easier and much cheaper! Again keep in mind I had no clue what Iw as doing and just thought how bad could it be!

Disappointing quality and no support outside return window
I purchased a 12-can kit of Akfix Thermcoat on March 30, 2025. Due to project delays, I did not start using the product until January 10, 2026 (about 9 months later). Unfortunately, out of the 12 cans, only 3 were usable. The remaining cans were completely solid inside and unusable. The product did not list an expiration date—only a manufacturing date—so there was no indication that storage time would be an issue. I did not inspect the cans when they arrived, which in hindsight was a mistake. When I contacted the company to request a replacement or refund, I was told that because I was outside their 90-day return/refund window, nothing could be done. This was very disappointing given the high failure rate of the product and the lack of clear expiration information. I would strongly recommend inspecting and testing all cans immediately upon delivery, as you may have no recourse later if defects are discovered.

Easy and almost fun. Just a mess. Pay attention to the gun to surface distance.
HEAVY box! Foamworked very well. Insulating our unused fireplace that’s getting new electric fake firebox. I guessed I’d need 4-6 cans.i used 5. I bought 12 in the kit. May have future uses for this. I recommend: - Spray water on the surface first. The foam almost explodes much more efficiently. - Wear the gloves. - Use a good aerosol protecting respirator. Because chemicals…. - DO NOT wear your prescription glasses. I did… - Maybe wear a disposable bunny suit. I learned the foam “sprinkles” do not come off cotton t-shirts in the wash. - Consider 1 can of cleaner for every 6 cans of foam. This kit came with one can. No problem for me as I only used 5 cans and already had a gallon of acetone, needed for much non-gun cleanup. So get a little can of acetone if you are buying 12 can kit. Should be plenty. - Spread a drop cloth or suffer the wife’s righteous ire. See pics: fireplace, flue.

Expensive but good.
Works well as long as your fast and don't get interrupted. Wear a mask but something better than the one they supply you with. Same with the gloves. Cleaner for guns works great. Price is too high but product is good.

Sealed up metal shed
Used on 6x8 metal shed this stuff is fantastic easy to use and easy to clean up a 12 can kit will do a 6x8 metal shed in my case I bought 5 more individual cans because I wanted to overdue it just cause but 1 kit would have been more than enough.i had no issues whatsoever went on perfect and way thicker than I would have thought so I can’t be more satisfied my shed will be able to hold up to the weather high winds and cold illinois has.this was the best investment I could have made and I’m glad I did.
