Excellent quality for price! has a thick bail arm, feels super durable. This is definitely a contender for the stradic fm, at a much lower price 👍👍

I saw this at bass pro shop while looking for a new daiwa or shimano. I was amazed at how lightweight the reel was. Those 11 ball bearings make it one of the smoothest reels that I have ever held. I left BP without purchasing it, but it was stuck in my mind. I had to have it. But 180.00 Before tax!!! I went to Amazon and found it cheaper. This is my first Lew's reel and I am thoroughly impressed. Currently running 10lb fluorocarbon, and experiencing frequent line twist and looping. Thinking about switching to braid with a fluorocarbon leader. All in all a great reel worth every penny. If you're looking to upgrade your gear you won't be disappointed! I paired it with a lews tp1 black medium light in 6'9".

These have become my favorite reels!

The box only had the reel, no user manual or product information sheet with specs and maintenance tips, and warranty registration details for Lew’s coverage. This box had been opened before and these items were removed.

Lew's hit one out of the ballpark with the HyperMag 300 Spinning Reel. I've fished with Lew's baitcasting reels for over 50 years -- I still use several Speed Spool BB1 and BB1NG. That "teardrop" shape just fits in my hand like a glove. For my spinning reels, however, I have always used higher end Shimano's and a couple of Pinnacle spinning reels for Ultralight setups. With the HyperMag 300, though, that will change. After my first outing using the HyperMag 300 for the Striped Bass run up the Roanoke River, I immediately ordered another one. It is just that dang sweet. I can fish with it all day long and not have wrist fatigue, and with the anti-backreel switch engaged, the handle stops on a dime and doesn't go backwards even a fraction. Very important to me when the bass inhale the lure the moment it touches the water -- which happens a lot when the Stripers are schooling. The HyperMag 300 is not inexpensive, but when you consider the Lew's quality and spread the cost out over years if not DECADES of fishing use, I believe it is a bargain.
