Fun strategy game
I got a free copy of Chickapig to spread the word about on a different site, and liked it so much I decided to review it here too! Chickapig is a quirky, farm-themed strategy board game that works well for kids and adults. At first I was a little overwhelmed by all the pieces--there are 4 teams of chickapigs, a cow, a fence for the cow, 4 colors of hay bales, cow poop, poop cards, daisy cards, a dice, and a timer! But once I actually read the directions, I found the game pretty straightforward. The bulk of the gameplay is getting the chickapigs into their pens by moving hay bales strategically (chickapigs go in a straight line until they bump into something or someone else, so if you want to turn, you have to put an obstacle one square ahead of where you want your chickapig to stop and turn). I liked the variations suggested to make the game quicker and I think the 8+ recommendation is pretty solid, and that in general tweens, teens, and adults will enjoy it more than elementary age kids. If you like strategy board games and are looking for something new, Chickapig is definitely one my family and I enjoy and recommend.

Fun at 2 players, even better with 4 players
We had only really had an opportunity to play this with 2 players until just recently. It's a great game at a 2 player count, but it was fantastic at 4 players. It just felt like there was so much more going on and the board changes drastically by the time it comes around to you again, making it harder to plan things out too far in advance, but also open up opportunities you hadn't even thought of. It was also amusing to watch the two people that started out as front runners start to only be concerned with each other (sitting across from one another) and if you stay quiet enough and fly under the radar they won't see how many chickapigs you have left to clear and you can shock them all and win the whole thing. Who knew chickapigs could be stealthy?! This is such a neat little game and packed in a cutesy theme. People walking by that have no idea what you are playing hearing you talk about poo out of context is just another perk.

Fun and challenging for all ages!
My family and friends love playing this game. Instructions are well written and there are guides on YouTube and other sites that help walk you through how to play the game. I love the artwork style and the build quality is great for the price point. I first played this at a friend's house party and ordered the game before we had left the party! Very easy to play 1v1 in multiple variations, so this game stays fresh and challenging. We have played with 8 players even in a fun variant where you play a tag team style where you cannot talk to your partner and have to take turns on your team's turn.

Great family game!
We were looking for another game to add into the rotation. My husband and I played a two player game with our 4 year old and had a blast. I wasn’t sure whether it would work but we all had so much fun strategizing, even my 4 year old was talking about how to block mommy’s pigs. Simple game but very fun. Suggested age is 8+ but I challenge that statement, younger kids would understand this with help of an adult. Definitely will be apart of our game nights with friends, especially where kids are in attendance. Not cheesy at all. This would make an excellent gift to a family with kids 8+. Pieces were well made and instructions were easy to understand, not complicated at all. This is my honest review of this game. Please let me know how If it was “helpful.”

Instant favorite!
Had this sitting in my wishlist for some time. Finally got around to start building a board game collection to play with my children (4 and 6 at this time). Chikapig sounded like an entertaining concept and just goofy enough to keep them entertained. I was expecting cheepy cardboard like so many games out there now, I was pleasantly surprised to find wood pieces and a sturdy board. Moreover the directions were easy to understand and quick to pick up. My 6 year old caught on very fast and its now his favorite of our little collection of boardgames. He's got a knack for figuring out the best way to bounce his Chickapig to the pen while all the while setting dad up to slip in cow poos. A lot of fun for four players but easily played by two controlling two sides each. Highly recommend. Quality, Originality, and Cleverness 5/5

Great strategy game once you played a few times
Fun game where 2 or 4 players strategize how to move their chickapig, hay bale and a pooping cow to get their chickapigs to the goal on the other side of the board. Each player has their own colored chickapigs and hay bales in red, yellow, green or blue. A player rolls a die that decides how many moves he/she can make. Each move can be a combination of moving your own hay bale, own chickapig or the pooping cow. A chickapig moves straight or sideways until it hits an obstacle (hay bale, other chickapigs, poop, the cow or fence). You win when you gets all six chickapigs into the goal. Along the way a player can roll a two to get a daisy card (good) or can land in poop and gets a poop card (bad). If only two players playing each player would have to control 2 of the 4 colored sides. We purchased this game for family game night. Both our 5 and 9 year old really enjoyed playing the game. It took a couple rounds of playing for them to fully understand the rules of the game. Highly addictive and new strategy each time you play. A few things I would recommend to improve the game. One, the wooden pieces should have already been popped out of the larger piece of wood. You can get splinters. Second, wish the instructions and actual board were more clear about where the goal posts are. They are very faint lines in the middle of the board on the opposite of each colored chickapigs.

Our favorite family game
I bought this game 7 years ago, and it is STILL our favorite board game. When we first got it we would use it for nights with friends, now we have kids and our kids always choose to play it because they love the chickapigs. It has the perfect blend of strategy and fun, can be played with a variety of ages and we always find ourselves laughing and getting into it whenever we play. Highly recommend!!
