My husband is 6'6'' but has 34 inch waist. If I get the medium will they be too short? Will the large be much longer?

I'm 5' 11" and purchased a sz large and the lenth is perfect so I assume a medium would be too short.

Is there a drawstring on the waist?

Yes, there is a drawstring. I never use it, but it’s there if you need it.
