I've tried formula first, mix a little at a time, what am I doing wrong?** A: I made the mistake of doing the formula first the first time I used it. It's just too much formula for the water to get in there and mix it up very well, so I always put the desired amount of water in first then add the formula. It might be slightly less precise that way, but it's still pretty close and does a great job of mixing. I guess if you're really worried about being precise you could put in about half the water, mix in the formula, then add the rest of the water and mix it some more. **Q: Can this pitcher be sterilized in boiling water for 10 min? I didn't see that guidance in the instructions and worry about boiling plastic.** A: Yes, when I first bought it we sterilized in a pot of hot water for 5-10 mins. Other than that, we rinse it with the Medela soap and hot water. I wouldn't recommend using the microwave or dishwasher as these things can break down the plastic. Of course, that is being a really anal parent.
