I was skeptical due to comments and such so I got the smaller size. It’s actually amazing. It works so well with my hair and even though it’s a softer gel, it holds really well. My curls were so defined and plump as well and my hair looked very moisturized. I used this along with the matching leave in conditioner and detangle and then style. Perfect combo! Will be buying full size once these run out. There’s a kit in there so it’s a good amount for your money and I like to use a lot of product so that’s saying a lot. It’s not sticky or tacky at all to me. Works well when you use water and your hair is drenched.

This has become my go-to gel for my curly hair. I use curl cream first followed by this gel. It helps define the curls and prevent frizz but doesn’t become hard and crispy. It’s a reasonable price too compared to a lot of the products on the market. I prefer the smaller bottle size because I travel often and don’t have to figure out putting it in a smaller container. The scent is light but pleasant.

I'm a caucasian woman with shoulder length wavy blonde hair (think "top ramen") and needed something to enhance my waves as I normally straighten my hair just to manage it. My immediate response to this curl gel is positive. It is light weight, goes on easily on towel dried hair and has really given my hair some volume. I haven't used hair gel since high school, so this is a learning curve and therefore I purchase the smaller size. My only negative is the scent. To me it smells like soap or a hotel shampoo in a bad way. Other than that, I would recommend this curl gel to anyone who has fine, wavy hair. :)

I absolutely love Patterns products! I like how the products make my hair feel and look. I especially love the fact that there’s white and clear hair products for women like me with grey hair. This product lasts all day, and works well on my 4c thick hair.

The product is good if you know what to expect and want the specific curl pattern that it forms. If you have naturally curly hair, you may not recognize yourself in the mirror with the results. THIS PRODUCT FLATTENED MY NATURALLY CURLY HAIR. My guess from my own experience in combination with other review pictures is that it is formulated to push hair of most textures and curl patterns towards a specific curl size from both ends of the spectrum. The result is successful only within a certain (bear with me as a scientist mind) phase shift/range with respect to that curvature, and will also obviously depend on what curl size you want/expected. I have natural pencil sized curls and was looking for a simple gel to reinforce that pattern with a combination of moisturizing + some light holding. This product retextures your hair(you can smell the chemical that does this when you wear it) to a very specific curl size- one that I do not prefer since it does not reinforce my hair’s natural curl texture. In this sense it is a catch-all curl product that as I mentioned pushed all textures to what I would describe as large, loose bounce-type curls unnatural to most hair types. I was somewhat disappointed with the product, which is a solid white cream, because I was looking to replace a particular Mielle loose gel product that was discontinued- a clear, very fragrant type of gel that simply kept my natural curl pattern, moisturized and held with even some heat damage protection, as I was living in Florida. This product in my opinion is mislabeled as a gel. This product completely retextures any hair that isn’t loose bounce curls, and even leaves some damage. I used it once for a retwist and was very disappointed, almost upset. I even suffered some damage because of the forced texture over my preferred natural texture. Again, if you know what this is in terms of composition and the single curl size (forced) result, you can perhaps use it to achieve something similarly specific. Or if it suits your natural texture, very loose curls or strait hair to curls, then this product may be for you. I would still use caution with the “gel” label, as most gels I have used do not retexture your hair completely, wash out easily and are for daily styling/ finishing. To summarize, this product does not work with curly textures progressively. It instead induces a single curl type that i would guess most people don’t actually prefer. Other products work with your hair to reinforce and normalize your normal texture with no damage.
