Wow! Surprised and highly recommend!
In a sea of C stands etc. and battling name brands, this company has never disappointed and this stand is top notch - spring loaded safety drops surprised me! All fittings and tensions and thinking of the straight and boom configuration has leveraged other industries innovations, notably the drum equipment stand world etc. The quick adjust main angle handle is a pro touch. I never rate or review ever, this stuff changes the game at this price point, it's not cheap cheap but it's a thing you get more value for the price. And you will want 3-4 of these hanging around for weird needs and uses. Thanks Newer and seller!

Nice stand for the price!
I second guess this stand until it arrived. Extremely sturdy and very well built. I thought it was gonna be a thin and chinsy stand, it’s not. It’s solid!

Surprising GOOD
I already own several of Neewer's C-Stands and also some lightweight Cowboy Light Stands. I LOVE the versatility and sturdiness of the C-Stands but I had a specific lighting need to supplement my studio, and the Cowboy stands were not cutting it. However, I did not want to spend the same dollar amount as the C-Stands.So I took a chance on this half-as-expensive Light Stand. I needed both height and a boom arm.So, for the most part, I was pleased with what I got. The actual boom and stand is very heavy duty but the legs are not as great as a C-Stand. HOWEVER, I could compensate for the stability with two sandbags (the unit comes with only one and no sands or rocks). One sandbag on the end of the boom and then another weighing down the base. Problem solved. The other "issue" is that this 2-in-1 is more like one or the other . . .not both. Yes, if you combine both poles, this thing is TALL . . .9 feet is higher than my ceiling. But if you want to use the boom, the main support is only about 4 feet (which is stated) and then the boom extends out. This was the config I needed to get my light 7.5 feet off the ground and "leaning" into the scene. For me PERFECT but your needs may vary.Still for the price, it is flexible in the config and with the sandbag placement, perfect for many scenarios. (However, if you can afford twice the price, look at the C-Stands)

Very strong and stable
The other five-star reviews are on point. This boom arm is strong and stable, and is a great price compared to the cost of full C stands if you already have high-quality light stands or even an extra tripod and an adapter. The double zipper on the sandbags is clever, but as another reviewer recommended, the best precaution is to fill ziplock bags with sand and then place those bags in the pockets.

Need to add that magical backlighting?
Had it installed and balanced quickly. Holds the 660 light with barn doors and direction diffuser with a few metal bar weights no problem. Was able to extend it way out and put the backlight right where it needs the be!

Lightweight stand with some of the tradeoffs that entails
I have a much more heavy duty (and expensive) version of this Neewer stand as well, but this one is much less awkward in size and easier to maneuver around smaller sets and areas. This one is made with a moderately thin gauge tubing and flexes a lot more. When I mounted my Amaran 200x with a medium sized lantern attachment out at full reach on the boom arm, both the arm and the stand were flexing quite a bit. The plastic t-handles also felt a bit cheap and I was worried about putting too much pressure on them. It also comes with an empty sandbag (so bring your own sand) and a carabiner that is intended to clip the sandbag up to the end of the boom arm as a counterweight, but is so light and thin you're better off just chucking it before it inevitably fails. This thing can get fairly tall (if you only use the stand in a purely vertical mode), but a regular stand is much better suited to that purpose, as this is supposed to boom. When it comes to that function, this isn't very good. It only has a single vertical riser which gets you 4'9" off the ground, but then the boom arm should go horizontal (or at least angled) from there. If you're trying to get a top light, good luck with anybody standing. Even sitting, it might be a challenge to get this high enough to be out of frame and also not have a diagonal boom segment cutting through the edge of frame. I got this primarily for tabletop, which it has just enough height for. That said, this is a very lightweight stand with a lightweight price and probably better suited to a smaller light than what I tested. I wouldn't feel comfortable leaving that light build unattended, but would stick more to smaller LED setups (like small tubes). If keeping those limitations in mind, then this should work decently well. Again, this is a $76 (as of this review) boom arm stand, so it's not exactly designed for heavier duty work. I think there are too many tradeoffs in usability and strength to justify saving some money for this lightweight solution.
