It is translucent, not transparent. Can definitely see the fill level but not any other special characteristics of the liquid.

For Wine, are we still racking with this? or is the spigot high enough to leave the sediment below?

If using as a primary fermenter you should still rack your wine into a secondary fermenter for continued aging and clearing. You should be able to use the spigot for racking and leave most of the sediment behind depending on the amount of sediment you have. If you are using the speidel as a secondary you can bottle using the spigot without having to rack again as long as you are being careful not to disturb the sediment.
