A: No. It's got a valve for prevent spills but does not restrict normal sucking.

**Q: Where is this made?**
A: Made in South Korea

**Q: which one is correct? descrption #2 of ad said "dishwasher safe" but product care instruction said "handwash only".**
A: We have had no problem washing in the dishwasher. Although, we love this cup so I probably do hand wash it more because we need access to it sooner than the dishwasher will allow.
