Review: No Hub Required - Replaced a Rachio that would no longer sync after 2 years. Seems to work well. Love that there’s no job needed.
Review: Not Realiable. Poor quality brand. - I've had this unit for a couple of years, and it's been plagued with connectivity issues from the start. At one point, I even bought a HomeKit-compatible Siri speaker and placed it in the garage right next to the device to improve coverage since it uses that network protocol. That helped somewhat, but the reliability never improved enough to trust it. After years of dealing with it, I'm finally replacing it with a Rachio since I already use their sprinkler controller and app. My advice: skip the Eve Aqua. There are better options available that don't come with the same headaches. This unit constantly throws read and write errors, loses its connection, and often requires removing the batteries before it will work again, for a short time until it drops connection again. Almost every time I go out to use the hose, it's disconnected despite the batteries still showing 100%. For a product that's supposed to automate watering, it has required far too much manual intervention and its going in the trash. Such a waste.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Will Eve Aqua fit my faucet?**
A: Eve Aqua’s standard 26.5 mm / ¾" thread fits virtually any regular outdoor faucet. When fitting Eve Aqua, screw it all the way on to the faucet using your fingers. Ensure it fits securely and that no water escapes even when the valve is shut.

**Q: Eve Aqua is a Minimal Thread Device (MTD) – but what does that mean?**
A: The current version of Eve Aqua supports Thread. This technology makes your smart home network more responsive, robust, and increases its reach – the only thing you need is a home hub (Thread border router).

**Q: How can I extend the range of Eve Aqua?**
A: Adding HomePod mini or the newest Apple TV to your home means Thread-enabled Eve accessories can communicate via Thread – the mesh network that reaches even the farthest corners of your abode. Simply position a FTD as close as possible to Eve Aqua.

**Q: Do I need an internet connection in my garden?**
A: Once set up, Eve Aqua works completely autonomously. It’s entirely up to you if you want to use the HomeKit automation and remote access functions that require a home hub.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great Automoated valve - Needs a Thread device to connect to Apple HomeKit
*by D***E on April 8, 2023*

I bought this to automate watering in a new garden bed. I wanted something that would work with Apple HomeKit. I previously bought some Eve magnetic door switches to monitor doors in the house. I could see those from my Apple Home and used them to trigger alerts on my phone. What I found with the Eve Aqua was that I could activate it from my phone - so long as I was within Bluetooth range. It would show on Apple Home, but only when I was near the Aqua with my phone. I read up a little on Eve's website and suspected my Apple TV was not new enough to Support thread. A conversation with Eve's tech support confirmed that. The other thing I learned was to be able to connect to HomeKit, you must have a non-battery powered Thread device to communicate with the an Eve battery powered thread device on the Thread network. I added an Eve Energy outlet switch and that did the trick. It talks to the Aqua and relays to the Apple TV. HomeKit is now happy. So it you want to automate the Aqua with your HomeKit, make sure you have compatible Thread devices to enable that communication.
