Birds love this seed! Plus it doesn’t sprout on the ground like the others that have a “shell”. Much less waste. Very economical for a great product.

I’m new to the bird watching pastime so I still have a lot to learn. One of the things I did discover is that birds like black oil sunflower seeds. The seeds are good for them too. The seeds give them energy & they help to regulate the bird’s internal temp. I also am getting a big variety of bird types. Woodpeckers, finches, chickadees, cardinals, jays, etc. It’s fun watching the bird drama and food fights. It’s also fun watching the eating habits & pecking order of the birds…who knew that smaller birds have the warrior soul of a Chihuahua. Anyway, my yardbirds enjoy eating & fighting over the sunflower seeds. I think your yardbirds might like them too.

I can confirm that these seeds don’t grow in my lawn — that’s a plus. But, despite all the glowing reviews here, the birds who visit my feeders won’t eat them. Absolutely untouched! Something is wrong with the sunflower seeds. The birds devoured the previous batch of regular sunflower seeds. ADDENDUM: So, maybe I was hasty. The birds weren’t eating these sunflower seeds. Now they are. Rating revised to four stars.

I’m new to bird-feeding so it was a big surprise when I saw a bunch of birds come the first day I put these out! The house finches particularly like it. I haven’t had a consistent flow of birds coming just yet, but the first day, a huge barrage of them came: titmice, finches, chickadees, even a curious chipping sparrow. I like that these are a no-grow formula so I don’t have to worry about unwanted flowers growing!
