Such a sweet little board book! Perfect for young toddlers who are just starting to learn the reason behind Christmas: Jesus! Short rhymes and colorful illustrations will keep the attention span of any little one. Would make a great 1st Christmas present!

My 11 month old great grandson loves to have this read to him. It is a sweet story of the birth of Jesus, with simple words.

Perfect stocking stuffer for kids. This book is sturdy! Even survived a quick dip in a bathtub and dried with a warm blowdryer perfectly. Nice thick cardboard!

I read through as many books i could find on here that would be for telling a toddler the story of Jesus in simple yet truthful way. I came across quite a handful of book that either didn't tell the story correctly or some had typos of the wrong words, it wasn't easy to tell online, i had too keep looking and looking because people in reviews flip through pages too fast. My son loves this book and the drawings are similar looking to his actual wooden nativity toy that he got last year so this year we read the story and opened up the book when we played with the nativity and he was able to put the two together and further learn about Jesus. I would buy this again for sure!

This is a sturdy board book with lovely illustrations and simple text that tell about Jesus' birth in a way young children love. I love this wonderful little book and have ordered several copies for gifts. I also set one book beside my Fisher-Price Little People Nativity set for the toddlers to enjoy. Yes, I wish the shepherds page mentioned they were told by angels about the Savior who would be found in a manger, and I wish Joseph was mentioned, but overall this book is one of the better ones from a Christian perspective. (Some of the others make no mention of how the Baby Jesus is so special.) This one notes that He is the reason for Christmas Day. The page about the wise men is especially good.

Excellent short sentences with rhymes for reading to even infants as young as 3 months. The drawings are dear, calming, and gentle in tone. Just beautiful. We read each page 3 times. Baby girl loves it.

Simple and sweet rhymes for the star, donkey, ram, ox, shepherds, wise men, mary, and "the baby". Disappointed that Jesus' name isn't actually used, nor is his identity as the son of God explicitly stated ("the only son" alludes to it I suppose). Joseph is literally in the background of Mary's page but doesn't get identified. I agree with other reviewers that it could have easily said "I am baby Jesus, asleep in the hay...". I think it would be pretty easy for a parent to come up with a few more rhymes and simple doodles to tack on whatever one found lacking. And aside from shepherds, our Little People nativity set goes well with it!

Great board book for little ones!

Ce petit livre a toutes les qualités, il met Noël et sa vraie signification à la portée des enfants. Les images sont simples et belles, tout comme le texte. Les enfants l'apprécient beaucoup.

This is probably the most beautiful Christmas book I have ever seen. The images are crisp and bold, with gorgeous rich colours and lovely simple detail. The text is written in verse and the typeface is perfect for small children who will enjoy the story over several years until they can read it for themselves, by which time this will be a book whose emergence from the loft they will anticipate each year.
