For river fishing/bass/lake reel, what size wpuld be best? I'm looking for an upgrade for my dock demon rod from zebco. It is my light tackle rod.

I am using, Sougayilang 5000 size spinning reel on a 12 foot surf rod with no problem. Maybe, this can act as a guide for you.

What is the fish weight limit for this reel?

I have the 3,000 size. I'm not sure what the limit is, but the largest fish I have caught with it, was an 36" 10 pound northern pike.

The 2000 says it’s 0.69 lbs = 11.04 oz and is not “light weight.” What am I missing?

Weight is important.,,!!! Btw. I bought 2 of them few months ago, koz I just start surf fishing, both of them was send back., one felt on send, could not turn 1 hour later,other one start rust., so the all bolts.! Seriously what can you get for $30.,??? It’s like umbrella for $5 you buy at train station & by the time you get home it’s done. Dude said he switching from penn to this.,??? I wouldn’t., I don’t know what penn he got., I’m using slammer 3 series., 4500 , 5500,6500., Just reed about this product.,,, for the money you will have good reel, just don’t forget to give rinse over after trip and will work for you at least 10 years

Is the xy2000 very light weight? Like good for a 5ft pole
