SENNELIER Extra-Soft French Pastel for Professional Artists, Half Pastel Summer Sky inspired Set of 6

Both the Seaside 6 ea pack and Emerald Sea arrived today. The sight, feel, and play of colors on paper are glorious. These are the first Sennelier extra-soft pastels I have had the luxury of holding in my hand. We all have texture preferences - soft, hard, or somewhere in the middle. My preference is the velvety soft of the extra soft Sennelier pastel. I have multiple other soft pastels on shelves and in drawers. I wish I had spent the money on previous purchases and instead bought the largest set of these pastels. Little by little I will add to my collection. If intensity of color and velvety feel are what you are looking for start with this brand first, Sennelier extra-soft pastels, before you experiment with others. They are an investment in your art experience. MB

I’m a pest artist and I use hard and soft pastels. These soft pastels are probably the best I’ve ever used and I’ve re-ordered several times. There are so many beautiful colors. They are especially good for under paintings. I like that they sell them in color sets, according to needs such as autumn colors, storm cloud colors, sunshine days colors.

Colors are as represented ( I bought two sets of 6 pastels) I have given this a 4 star because the seller doesn’t understand that the box should be bubble wrapped or otherwise protected. On each set I had two sticks arrive broken and will only be usable with a wet brush.

I love these pastels and intend to buy more. They are VERY soft and easy to use (I use them with makeup brushes to paint dolls' faces). The colors are intense and even. I previously used Rembrandt, but like these better. Update. I bought more of these pastels that arrived today in a padded envelope. These pastels are very fragile and needed more careful packaging than just being thrown into a padded envelope. They arrived in pieces - very disappointed.

Sennelier pastels come with a price tag, but here, you get what you pay for. The packaging of a curated palette of six of the popularly-sized half pastels is just brilliant. Each pastel is nestled within a foam container that travels flawlessly. This selection is everything you need (except paper) to create a lovely seaside landscape to experiment with Sennelier soft pastels at a modest price. Treat yourself or gift an artist friend with something special that won't break the bank. Each of these themed six packs is more gorgeous than the next.

This pastel set is great for portrait work. I used it as a college student in my drawing classes for color work. It blends smoothly with a nice rich color. I would recommend this for any art student to add to their supplies for any work in chalk pastels or charcoal.

DO NOT BUY. Really disapponted. I’ve used many lower end/student grade soft pastels and was excited to finally try Sennelier. I ordered three different sets. One (green/spring countryside) arrived in crumbling pieces. The other (dark skin tones) arrived whole but as soon as I touched them they crumbled - they’re so dry you can’t even make marks - they just crumble to dust. Still waiting on third set (light skin tones) to arrive. But for $45 of pastels, this is terrible. Adding on since the third set (light skin tones arrived). These look like they’ve been used already, with color smudges and cross-contamination on each pastel. They did arrive whole vs. in broken pieces like the other sets. Still…wholly disappointing.
