Good for beginners
I’ve only welded twice in my life. I first tried a handheld TIG welder on my muffler (it had separated at the seam) but it kept burning through the thin metal. I bought this ARC Captain MIG 135 and used it with the flux-core wire it came with and it is much easier to work with. I have never used a MIG welder before but I had this set up and ready to weld in roughly 10 minutes. It only has 3 buttons so it’s not overwhelming for beginners. It’s relatively small, feels high quality, and I like the digital display. My welds are ugly but they did the job on the seam of my muffler (as seen in video). Took me a little bit to figure out a decent method but overall it went better than my tig welding attempts. The only small downside is that I wanted to store it back in the box and didn’t want to disconnect the gun since I would have to refeed the wire later. That says more about me than the welder though lol. If you’re a DIYer or trying to learn how to weld (like me) this welder is a solid choice. Easy to use, works well, and it’s not too expensive.

Compact Welder with Pro-Level Power and Simplicity
I picked up this 135A MIG welder for some home DIY and metal repair projects, and it’s quickly become one of my favorite tools in the garage. Despite its compact size, it’s seriously capable—handling everything from thin sheet metal to thicker steel with no problem. The digital LED display is crystal clear and takes all the guesswork out of setup, which is a lifesaver when you're juggling gloves, wires, and a welding helmet. What really impressed me is how beginner-friendly it is without sacrificing control for more experienced users. I just input the wire size and metal thickness, and it auto-matches the voltage and feed rate. When I want more control, I can fine-tune settings manually. Switching between MIG, Lift TIG, and Stick modes is easy, and although I had to pick up a TIG torch separately, the flexibility makes it feel like a premium multi-process machine. The arc starts are smooth, and the welds come out cleaner than I expected from a 110V welder. Plus, it’s lightweight—under 10 pounds—so I can carry it with one hand using the built-in handle or toss it over my shoulder with the strap. It’s ideal for quick fixes or mobile jobs, especially since it runs off standard household power. For anyone starting out in welding or just looking for a reliable, portable unit that doesn’t compromise on performance, this little welder punches way above its weight. The build quality and built-in safety features add even more peace of mind.

Great entry level multi-process welder! Almost perfect
I have been really impressed with the ArcCaptain MIG200 multi-process welder. I bought this welder as an upgrade and replacement for my old Millermatic 140 welder. This ArcCaptain welder has so much more versatility, adjustment, and power compared to the old basic transformer MIG welder I'm coming from. The build quality is excellent, although it may not be as durable as a big name brand, but for DIY hobby use in the garage it will be more than tough enough. The welder comes with almost everything you need to MIG or stick weld out of the box. The only items you'll need to pick up are your MIG wire, shielding gas (unless you run flux-core wire), a gas regulator, or your stick welding electrodes. The welder comes with extra MIG consumables and uses standard tweco style contact tips readily available. 3 different styles of wire drive rolls are provided; V-groove for solid wire, knurled groove for flux wire, and U-groove for aluminum wire. Unfortunately ArcCaptain appears to have a packaging issue though because even with 7 drive rolls included in the kit none of them have a groove sized for running 0.035" (0.9mm) wire of any type. Hopefully they correct this issue in the future. This welder welds nicely and creates an easy to control weld bead. I'm a little rusty with my handwork so the inconsistencies in my test welds were the result of my own travel speed issues and not the welder. The Synergistic MIG functionality is really nice and provides a really good starting point for MIG weld settings. The one thing that ArcCaptain completely fails to mention in their user manual though is that when your in Synergistic mode you MUST set the AMPERAGE level appropriate for the material thickness being welded and then the machine will adjust the voltage and wire feed speed accordingly. For any beginner, just follow this rule of thumb and use 1 Amp for ever 0.001" of material thickness (ex. for welding 1/8" thick steel start with the welder set to 125A in synergistic mode and adjust the voltage from there if the weld is too hot/cold for your liking). My only minor complaints about the welder, aside from the missing 0.035" drive rolls, are that ArcCaptain didn't include a MIG setup chart sticker inside the door cover (which is standard practice on all MIG machines), and that the unit comes wired for 110V input and they provide a 110V to 220V adapter cable. I think this practice of passing 220V through a 110V plug is poor design and may even be a violation of certain electrical safety codes. The better design would've been to have a 220V cable wired to the unit and adapt down to a 110V plug when needed. Overall this ArcCaptain MIG200 welder is a great value for all of the functionality it provides. It provides many more advanced features typically reserved for welders 2-3X the price of this unit. ArcCaptains support team has also been very helpful and responsive to my emails and the customer support is excellent for an international company. I'd highly recommend this welder to anyone looking for an excellent value multi-process MIG welder.

A great deal for the money!
I used my 135 today for the first time and it surprised me. I have had several nice welders but sold them all after I had a stroke. I am a DIY kind of guy and needed to weld some small projects so I bought this welder. It works great but at this price I didn't expect Miller or Lincoln quality and I was not surprised at some of the cheapness of the parts. I had to put tape on the gun hose at the welder because it was seperating from the fitting. I also found that I needed at least a 20 Amp CB or it would trip my CB. I welded my project and was happy with the quality of the weld. I have no clue why there is a nozzle since it isn't needed and I removed it for a better view of the weld. The manual is not very good but it is easy to figure out. One thing that is not mentioned is the rotating knob is also a push button to change modes on the screen.

I'm very impressed, it works great.
The Arccaptain MIG 200 kept coming up on YouTube videos and after looking on amazon it also had very good reviews. I couldn't help but notice the features and prices were almost exactly in line with the 205DS-b. By all accounts they are both very highly rated and seem to perform very well, so investigated the Arccaptain further. I really liked the layout of the display and the way the machine looked aesthetically, not like a toy. I liked that it had a spot weld feature and I also thought the light in the cabinet was a great idea. The other thing that I started noticing was that it seemed like in the newer reviews that it was also coming with a 240v cable adapted down to 120v, much better and safer. Now, on the not so good side the torch cable is a little on the light weight side, but it works fine. The first one I ordered arrived defective, but Amazon sent out a replacement quickly. Since then I have used it on both 120 and 240v and it works well on both. I've only had a chance to play around with some 1/8th inch and 3/16th coupons and some 18 gauge sheets to try out the spot weld feature, but so far I'm very happy with it. I love that the fan doesn't come on until the welder is in use, that's a BIG plus. The standard setting chart in the door seems to be pretty far off what I experienced , especially the wire speed. I started using a Miller multimatic 200 chart, specifically the one for 110v, (even though I'm using 240) that I found online and that does a way better job putting me in the ballpark of where to start my settings. The sync feature doesn't "just work", you have to manually set up baseline settings for your wire and material and then flip it to sync. After that it does work well. I've had the Arcaptain for almost a week and I'm very happy with my decision, it works really well! Update 10-20-2025: I now have many hours on this machine with mostly 1/8 and 3/16 steel and it has performed flawlessly. I still give it five stars and I would definitely buy another one! Reply

Great Welder.
I bought this welder to do the initial welding on a front and rear bumper kit. I did this in the driveway with a 120v 20 amp outlet and a 25ft 10 gauge extension cord. Using the flux core wire. Welded great. 0 issues. I have used name brand 120v wire feed welders at work and at home. This is by far the best one I have ever used. I was going to use it and give it to my son, but after using it I will keep it and buy him another one. Great product.

Great welder.
This has got to be the best welder for the money on the market. You don't have to have 220 but I put it in my garage, leased a tank of C-10 and haven't regretted it. The pre programed options are great but you can fine tune it to whatever you are welding. I can't speak on "in the field use" but for garage projects this welder is perfect. Build quality is great, doest feel light or cheap like the Harbor freight welders. I've always looked at reviews prior to buying, the videos and reviews don't lie on this welder. I'm very satisfied with this welder. Stop looking and buy this one.

ARCCAPTAIN welder Machine
Hello everyone who reads this review about this welding machine that I just purchased. As a welder, I have no experience at all—honestly, I had never welded anything before. I had only watched how the work is done, but I had never put it into practice myself. Based on my experience so far, this machine is very good. Even though I just bought it and haven’t used it extensively or with full confidence yet, I can say it is a well-made product, and for the capabilities it was designed for, I believe it performs very well. What bothers me about some reviews is that people sometimes review products without having even the minimum knowledge of what they are for or what their purpose is, and then they leave a bad review saying the product doesn’t work—when in reality they don’t even know how to use it. People, please, if you’re going to review a product, at least have the ability to understand what it’s made for or what its purpose is. Don’t ruin it just because you don’t know how to do things properly.
