A tense, tight thriller with a great cast.
This one didn't look to bad on blu-ray. I may not need to upgrade to 4k on this one. I love Kurt Russel films so it was a must buy. A claustrophobic tight thriller. Not as much an action film as some might have thought it would be but it kept you on the edge of your seat. Great supporting cast as well.

B-movie with A-list actors
This is one of those action movie gems from the mid-1990s, back when action movies were still entertaining because they still carried on that '80s action movie spirit. This is from back in the day, pre-Matrix, when not everybody on screen knew martial arts, and the one guy that did gets killed off during the first act of the movie! This movie would have been just as entertaining without the all-star ensemble cast (Kurt Russell, Steven Seagal, Halle Berry, John Leguizamo), but thankfully having all of that star power available makes this film doubly worth watching just to watch them all ham it up. It's as though everybody knew that the script was borderline silly, but they put all of their acting chops into their roles and really had fun with it. This is also before remakes and reboots had a chance to really plant their flag in Hollywood, so while the plot is somewhat forgetful; a crack U.S. anti-terrorist commando squad hijacks a terrorist hijacking in midair (Chuck Norris' Delta Force did a better job with this plot in 1985); at least the movie gives a fresh take on a tired concept, and also has an eerie harbinger of what happened 5 years later on 9/11 hanging over the entire course of the film. The special effects aren't very special either, but thankfully practical effects have been making a comeback in Hollywood in recent years, so this movie is actually much more entertaining than it was in 1996 when I saw it in the movie theater and scoffed at its use of miniatures toward the end of the film. If you want to own a cheap popcorn movie with A-list actors, then Executive Decision was definitely worth the $8 or $9 bucks that I paid for it, for sure!

Family Movie Night.
For me this movie never gets old. Full of action and thrill which keeps you on suspense from start to finish. Watched this movie multiple times in the past and it never gets old. I have recently ordered this movie for my kids who are teenagers and never seen it before. They loved it!!! Great choice for family movie night.
