Finally, a watch I'll wear every day
I am not the kind of person that wanted a wristwatch, let alone a smart watch. I don't need that level of connectivity, and I have the unfortunate tendency to destroy nicer watches because of clumsiness and absent-mindedness. But, I do enjoy working out. I love having data when I want to see it. And, importantly, I work in a profession where I would benefit from having a wrist watch to check the time. It's with that mindset that I finally caved and purchased the Fitbit Charge a few years ago. I liked it, but it crashed a bunch of times and eventually refused to reboot. So, I started looking for alternatives. I found the Versa but resisted, as I really don't want or need most smart watch features. Then Black Friday sales came along and I took the plunge. I am glad I did. The watch is durable, easy to use, fits well, and does all of the things I want it to do. I mostly use it to track steps, heartrate, workouts, check the weather, and set timers at work. It does not have a catchy or flashy look, which I am more than fine with. My biggest concerns are whether or not the screen can take a hit (it does) and if I'll fry the darn thing when I inevitably forget I'm wearing it while showering or swimming (it's waterproof). I don't use a lot of the features on this thing. I tried syncing with my Google Wallet, but I find it way easier to just use my phone or wallet -- two things I am very reluctant to travel without. My phone is on silent most days, so I guess it's nice to get alerts when I've missed a call, but I really don't pay much attention to it. I've never bothered with the advanced features for health monitoring, though I guess for a person experiencing health difficulties or someone wildly focused on wellness would find the features useful. The Fitbit app is a nice bonus, and the premium features include some solid workouts and tools for holding yourself accountable to fitness goals. I've dabbled with these when really focused on personal goals, and seen the usual mixed results of someone who will only somewhat commit themselves to diet and workout goals. Still, nice to have. In a world where most smart watches are double the price for a slew of features I don't want or need, this is an excellent product.

Excellent smartwatch
I have had this watch for ages now and its still going strong. As a diabetic, I wanted a watch that would allow me to see my glucose numbers at a glance rather than looking on my phone. I downloaded an app that works well with the Fitbit for this and it really helps me monitor my numbers. The other options such as exercise, steps, heart rate, etc are all really good to and the watch is customizable for your needs. I can also take and send calls, messages, texts, etc so thats very cool and makes me feel all futuristic. I set up my credit card on it as well so I can just put in my pin and tap my watch when paying for something and most of the time it works (I occasionally find a machine that won't accept it but its rare) Its held up well over the past few years with a few minor scratches but it still charges well and stays charged all day long and sometimes severral days at a time. I didn't like the silicone band that came with it so I purchased several cloth bands and its a pretty standard size so its not hard to find bands that work with it. I think its a great buy for a smartwatch and looks nice too as its not overly large

Great alternative to Apple Watch
Great alternative to expensive apple watches. My wife's has to be charged daily; this watch goes 6 or 7 DAYS before recharging. Easy to set up, great watch with nice features. Not as many functions as apple watches, but do all that I need

Perfect replacement.
This was a replacement for my Versa 4 that had a cracked glass.

Nice watch
My wife likes this watch a lot. She tracks her sleep and steps daily. I had a Versa 4 and loved it. Wish the battery would last a little longer, but 6 days isn't too bad. My Garmin last 19 days between charges.

Poor GPS performance
Do not buy this watch to track runs. I’ve had a persistent problem with the Versa 4 where the first mile or so of GPS tracking is wildly inaccurate even on perfectly clear days. It doesn’t always fail, but maybe 50% of the time or more, and appears to be getting worse lately. The two screenshots are of the same loop run. One shows a reasonable track, the other shows the issue I'm having with the watch, where the GPS tracking inaccurate and thus incorrectly reports distance and pace. I purchased this watch in December 2023 for my son who didn’t use it. I started using it 6 or 7 months later when my Versa 3 died. I have 30+ years of experience debugging and resolving issues, a master’s degree in computer science and work as a director of engineering. I’ve owned both Garmin and the prior Versa 3 GPS watches. I contacted fitbit support last November as I was fed up with the poor performance. They were cheery and stated their commitment to resolving the issue. Support: try loosening the watchband as far as possible. Me: I don’t like a loose watch while running, but I’ll try it. No luck Support: keep the watch away from your bones Me: The watch generally sits by the wrist bone, but since I’ve loosened it up, I’ll try sliding it up my forearm. The problem persists. Support: Factory reset the watch. Me: I went through the tedious factory reset process and appeared to have success on the first following run. But the problem reappeared on the next run Support: Your fitbit app is out of date, it’s 4.34.11 and needs to be 4.35 Me: I’m not having problems with the fitbit application, I’m having problems with the watch. I went to update to 4.35 on my Android phone, but it wasn’t available. Support: You need to wait for 4.35 to come out in order for us to continue this case. Me: I waited for 4.35 to come out and resent the screen-shots of my failed runs. Support: In the fitbit application go to exercises/run and make sure GPS is enabled. Me: There are no exercise/run settings in the phone app, but there are on the Versa 4 watch. I’ve sent them many screen-shots of the GPS tracked runs using the Versa 4. Sent them a picture of GPS being enabled on the watch. Support: Make sure the phone app has GPS always privileges and has privileges to run in the background. Me: What does this have to do with the GPS on my watch? Sent screenshots to show that GPS is always enabled on the phone app and it is permitted to run in the background. [I'm now waiting for another response, but they continue to throughout seemingly unrelated solutions to the fundamental issue] Note: I’ve noticed now, with V4.35 of the fitbit application on my phone, that the Versa 4 will immediately report “GPS Connected” when I start a run, even if I’m in the house with both my phone and watch. Neither can access the GPS satellites. I suspect, with this version of the phone app, the watch is using the phone’s location services to indicate GPS connection, even if the phone is using Cell or WiFi to get approximate location. The initial mile or so of my runs remains inaccurate, even though the watch starts off with “GPS connected”. Fitbit support does not seem to be focused on the source of my issue, the poor performance of the GPS system on this Versa 4 watch. Is my watch faulty, or does the Versa 4 have a weak GPS system in it’s design? I don’t know. This watch is not useful for tracking runs. I would recommend anyone looking for a run-tracking watch look elsewhere. The Versa 3 took a little time to get initial GPS lock, but then tracked without problems. The Garmins locked quickly and were accurate.
