Shanko authentic pressed metal lay-in grid ceiling tiles are produced using original sand-casted dies and historically-correct patterns. panels are made with 100% real metal (not faux-metal plastic), and is a green product containing 62% recycled steel. Perfect for new construction, remodeling or repairing original metal ceilings. These tile panels have the highest fire rating class, ASTM E 84-03b approved and are moisture resistant. Actual panel size: 23.75 in. by 23.75 in., each case contains five (2 ft. by 2 ft.) individual panels that cover a total of 20 square feet. Shanko lay-in grid ceiling panels fit standard 15/16th ceiling grids (grid system not included). Sample kits available for purchase (sold separately). We have been manufacturing Shanko Authentic Pressed Metal Walls and Ceilings since 1896 using sand cased steel dies from original woodcarvings. Our Mammoth power presses allows us to deliver the highest quality and consistent stampings with every piece we manufacture. Metal ceilings were popular at the turn of the century because of their fire resistance, as well as resistance to mildew, moisture and vermin. Often referred to as "tin ceilings" the panels were never actually made from tin. Made in the USA. Lacquered Steel finish.
