The top one is smaller. We have been very happy wit them and have found their sizes to be perfect. The first thing I used it for was to reheat taco fillings: meat, beans, rice. ( I have two instant pots). I placed 1 1/2 C. water in bottom of 8 qt. pot,. I placed meat in the larger stackable with rice in the smaller one on top with steam top. closed with wire hanger thing, and placed in instant pot on steam for 15 min. Then I put another solid covered pan with refried beans into my 6 qt. I used one cup of water in the instant pot for this. I used 10 minute setting on pressure cook for that. Rice came out perfect as well as meat and beans. the great thing about this is that unlike baking, the food does not dry up and stick to the pans like in an oven. cleanup is a breeze. I too have made lasagna. When I finished I placed it into the oven to brown cheese on top. These stackables are amazing. cook rice on the bottom, and steam veggies on the top at the same time. have fun. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Fantastic Product, New 6qt set too big for 6qt Power XL *by T***E on December 31, 2018* Updating and raising my rating to 5 stars.Turns out the new 6qt is larger than the old one and will not fit in my 6qt Power XL. From what I understand, it works fine in the 6qt instant pot. It may or may not fit in other pressure cookers.That said, I see no reason why the new model would not work just as well as the older one, and that one works very well. Both are high quality and durable. The one I bought last year still looks new and I am very happy with it.Original review with some clarifying edits:I have 2 sets of these. The first one I purchased in Feb of 2018. I found myself using it so frequently, that I decided to buy a second set the end of Dec 2018.There have been some significant design changes - these changes appear to mean that the 6qt size no longer fits in my 6 qt XL, even though the first set fit perfectly.As you can see from the photos, the lids are two very different sizes. The smaller one is from my first set, the larger one from my most recent order in Dec 2018. Both were advertised as 6qt in this same ad.Because this new model is larger, it will not go down all the way into the pot due to its width and height, so unfortunately I can't use it in my Power XL.A positive difference this new design brings is versatility. My first set featured a round bottom which made the positions of the pans in relationship to each other fixed (in other words, you could not reverse the order and maintain a seal on the bottom pan), this new design features the same bottom on both pans so you can use them in either order. This is beneficial as you want the food that requires more heat on the bottom, and now you can use either pan in that position.The other change is that the streaming lid has more holes on it.You can see the difference between the old and new models in the pictures in the description which show their old set (a design used still by their competitors) compared to their new set (a design also used by other competitors) sitting in a pressure cooker. If you look through the pictures at the top of the ad, you will see they are still using pictures of the old set with the rounded bottom and steamer lid with fewer holes as well as pictures of their new set.With the old set I am able to store the steamer lid inside the set, between the pans, and lock it all together. This is not possible with the new set (I assume due to configuration changes), making it easier to misplace the steamer lid.Also, the wire locking apparatus is a bit harder to use with the new set compared to the old.It would be nice if instructions were included on how to use the steamer lid, since you usually steam on top of the holes, not beneath them, and it is pretty obvious this is designed with the holes on top.To use the steamer lid, I use both pans if I want too lock the lid in place with the wire basket holder. To do so, I put some water in the bottom pan to have something in it , and I put just a little water in the top pan to barely cover the bottom of it (probably an unnecessary step), then my food, then the steamer lid on top. Water has to be in your main pressure cooker pot according to the manufacturer's instructions as always. It steams just fine with the old set, and I would imagine even better with the new lid. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Five Stars for Product and Service *by H***T on June 27, 2018* I would give the combination of product and service 5 stars. When I received the shipment, I had a problem with the pans and contacted Sensible Needs/Metropolis Global, who solved the problem pleasantly, quickly and without fuss. I couldn't ask for more. I often worry about the support situation with inexpensive items, because my time is valuable and who wants to mess around trying to resolve an issue with something that isn't a large expenditure? (The seller's time is valuable too, and I appreciate their willingness to provide quality customer service.)At the risk of sounding like the host of an infomercial, you get two pans, two different lids, and a well-designed sling for the price of a couple pizzas. That's a lot of stuff. On the bright side, it's a pretty good deal for the set. On the flip side, and understandably, it's not going to match up well to an All-Clad set of pans. It's not going to match up to one All-Clad pan. These are lightweight pieces. Realistically, it's probably best as, while I'm not an expert in thermodynamics, I'd guess there is less mass to bring up to temperature, saving time.I bought this set and I also bought a Maxrock set after I bought this. Mainly out of curiosity... and they are inexpensive enough that the entertainment value of the comparison is there. I think this set, Sensible Needs, compares very well to the Maxrock product, and my current feeling is that most of these sets sold here are pretty similar. I'd guess that what you want to do is ensure you have someone standing behind the product, like this seller, and to research and identify the little differences that may be important to you.Speaking of the differences... The Maxrock product has heavier *pans* (about 16% heavier) and the pans look more robust, but the Sensible Needs *lids* (including the knob on the "airtight" lid) are a whopping 50% heavier than the Maxrock. (Stacked, the sets are roughly the same height and width, although this product's bottom pan is bigger than its top pan, while the Mawrock pans are the same size.)In my opinion, this product's sling is better than the Maxrock sling. The Maxrock sling is good enough and gets the job done, but this product's sling is designed to stay together without fuss and it almost "locks" into place. If I asked a family member to remove hot pans from a cooker, I'd be more comfortable with this product vs. the Maxrock, from a safety perspective. I, myself, would handle either product without concern.This product has a knob on the "airtight" lid. It's a nice feature. ALL insert pan sets should have handles of some sort on the lids!!! So, kudos to this company for doing the right thing. I will say that at this stage of my life I am pretty fussy and safety conscious. I will be checking the screw that holds the lid knob on a regular basis. You do not want that screw coming out and finding its way into the food.No problems sticking. Just coat the insides of the pans/lids with oil, top to bottom. I don't see any competitive advantage with one stainless product over another in that regard, although I have seen the idea mentioned.Yes, that blue band shown in the pictures comes off! Yea! I tore it off and there was no clue to the pan. Easy.I have a sense of humor. I am sitting here chuckling to myself because the more I sit here and look at these Sensible Needs pans and assess them, the more I like them. They work well for pan-in-pan cooking, separating one food from another in the pressure cooker, and making it easy to get them both out without any hassle, due to the stacking rack's handles. They also make it extremely easy to cook more than one thing at a time in a pressure cooker, although you may need to start one, depressurize, add the other and bring your pressure cooker back up to pressure, which will take less time than you expect.
