The glass is actually clear with a mirrored surface on one side, and the effect is very pretty. As an added bonus, sunlight refracts through some of the pieces of glass and throws little dots of light on our outside wall when the sun shines.When deciding which brand to buy, went to the manufacturer's web site to read more about the glass and used the guidance on their site to determine how much to order. We ended up with more than we needed, but that might be a plus because we didn't have any of the fines (small pieces) that some people have complained about - those would be with the leftovers in the bottom of the bags out in our garage.Also want to note that the web site is quite clear that propane, which burns hotter, is likely to darken or blacken the glass. The site recommends ordering a dark color if your fire pit is propane.
