Not intended for wood stove.
I bought to use in wood stove. Worked good till it started to sag in the middle. I think it can't handle weight of the wood when it gets hot. Would not purchase for wood stove.

Great Stove Grate
I have a wood burning stove insert that works well and puts out good heat, however it only worked for about 2 (maximum 3) days before the ash build up on the bottom refractory brickwork mde the fire iiefficient and unuseable until you let it go out and removed the ash. By adding this grate I can get a full 7 days Saturday to Saturday meaning far fewer cold mornings and alot less dust and fire cleaning work. My stove firebox tapers to the rear but I couldn't find a trapered after-market grate. This one worked as the legs are well set in from the sides so I got my local machine shop to saw this one tapered so it is the full original width at the front but 1.5in narrower at the back. The grate works well, it appears to be good quality and is working great with 16in hardwood logs in a wood burning stove. I love it and would recommend it to anyone looking for this type of product.

Works great. Don't let one area get to hot on the grate.
I bought this because my stove didn't come with one and getting air circulated around the wood/fire prevented me from getting a good hot burn and would usually leave me with half burnt logs in the center. I would constantly have to re-shuffle the logs together to restart the fire. So far after using this for 2 good months it's turned out to be one of the best thing I've bought for my stove, as it does exactly what I expected and I can get fires started much easier (because of air circulation) and last much longer with out having to watch it constantly. There are lots of negative reviews of this grate bending/bowing over time after use. I believe what's happening is during a really hot fire (possibly at start up) there will a hot spot focused directly on one spot of the grate and it causes the cast iron to reach it's melting point and thus it will bend/bow with the weight of the wood. I've been mindful of this and after tons of use I've never had an issue. I believe the key is to make sure the fire is burning evenly as much as possible

COULD BE BUILT A LITTLE HEAVIER
WORKS GOOD BUT SHOULD BE BUILT A LITTLE HEAVIER. THE WEIGHT OF LOGS WILL BEND IT FROM CONINUED HIGH HEAT. WHEN RECEIVED THE BOX HAD A HOLE IN IT AND THE LEGS WERE MISSING. I HAD TO USE THE LEGS FROM MY OLD GRATE WHICH WAS THE SAME.

Quality Lacking!
I bought this product last spring due to issues surrounding the need to replace grates and grate frames in my HOTBLAST 1557M stove. I looked into US Stove accessories (per stove manual parts list) that would aid in extending the internal stove parts longevity, which is when I found the raised grate. I installed the grate in October of 2024 for the upcoming Maine winter. As of today, it is February 17, 2025 and the raised grate has already failed. It has been slowly and continuously degrading for the past two months, first warping in the middle, then breaking out in the middle and then finally splitting for good; rendered useless. Now I want to state that I am fully aware that cast iron over time warps and become brittle inside of a constant fire stove type application. Nonetheless, the quality of US Stove products is below average. My previous Shanendoah Wood Stove lasted in this home for the first 26 years of owning it without any internal part replacements. The stove was only replaced after a slight crack occurred in the actual fire box itself, rendering it unsafe. The stove was original to the home which was built in 1970, just to give insight into it’s longevity. This purchased grate product should have lasted me multiple seasons before failure. I have also had horrible luck with their fire bricks as well, cracking after only a few fires, but this review is not about that so I digress. I have had a wood stove heat source my entire life and specifically for this home 40 years now. I purchase appropriate burning firewood that has been properly seasoned and stored. I also maintain an external thermometer to monitor the fire temp for proper use per my HOTBLAST manual. I think we are all aware as consumers of the poor quality of products we are purchasing and the sad reality that in this time period we have become groomed to believe that’s just how it is and we have become accustomed to accepting this current throw away and replace culture without a second thought. Having to replace a nearly $60 grate yearly, that does not even last an entire winter season, is simply unacceptable.

Nicely made and a good size.
I’m using this between andirons in a small fireplace. This is the right size and seems well made. I suspect though that it will break down over the next season and will need to be replaced every year or so. It’s not heavy duty enough to last much longer than that with normal sized fires 2-4 times a week.

Works well until it melts
I purchased this grate in September 2021 and used it for an occasional weekend fire in a fireplace. After about a year in use, the back middle part of this grate began to melt and deform. Now, pieces of it are breaking off. I do like the way it fits in the fireplace and that logs lay flat on it, but now it needs to be replaced. Not durable. Not recommended.

Sane replacement for overpriced wood stove grate
I have a Hearthstone Bennington stove. Grating broke in many places being poorly designed for the heat. Replacement was $250. This $50 grate was much larger but fit perfectly in the stove with the feet removed. It is performing well and if it breaks, I can buy four more for the price of the original grate.
