Good and practical to store, use and carry.
Bought it to use with my cub pack. Easy and practical to use and carry. Be careful not to lose the hook however. I'm looking forward to using it more.

Three legged challenge
It arrived promptly but without any information sheet. Like most accessories it is expensive for what it is, but this no doubt helps to keep the main product cheaper. My worry here is that there is not any mechanism to stop the legs from splaying apart. This is probably no worry if they can be embedded in the ground, but could be when used on a smoother surface such as a patio. Something that is supporting a heavy pot with a boiling liquid must be absolutely safe from collapse. The chain for carrying the pot is presumably stainless steel. It can be adjusted but it strikes me as being very difficult to do this when supporting a hot heavy pot over the fire. I have not used it yet other than for display but if I use it for cooking over a fire I shall be very cautious.

Dutch oven tripod review
I purchased this tripod for my charity, founded by my sister and I 9 years ago. We had our first 2 day event this July 2011 where people were coming from all over to camp out and join with us on an awareness weekend, just getting to know each other. I had found a 10 litre coffee pot in USA and needed the tripod to hang it over the fire. I bought the tripod and was really pleased with it, but when placing it over our fire pit realized with such a large coffee pot the height was not right. One of our guys that helps us very cleverly extended the tripod for us and it worked great. For an ordinary sized pan, dutch oven pot or kettle this tripod would work really well. I have no regrets at buying it and in fact would now like to buy the bigger triple stand for over our next fire. The tripod comes in a carry bag, folds down really neat, but long, and is easy to pack away.

Love it.
I have a petromax dutch oven that I use with this and I find it an excellent combination.

I am super happy to have purchased this. Used it again yesterday when I coolked a stew over the campfire in the backyard. The tripod is very sturdy! I adjusted the legs centering the dutch oven over the fire pit. The tripod can support my weight. The hook and chain are extremely easy to use and provide so many height adjustments. I tend to set the dutch oven at a particular height, then if I need to make adjustments, it's just as easy to move the legs of the tripod which will raise and lower your pot. I can be tricky lifting a fully stocked dutch oven iwith one hand while adjusting the chain with the other while trying to avoid standing in the fire lol. Now as a few others mentioned, this does not come with a case but don't worry. It dows come in a box that is appropriately sized for the tripod. My solution to this was simple and inexpensive. I wrapped the entire bow in duct tape and attached paracord to make a strap. 5 minutes of easy work and now I have a sturdy carrying case for the unit. No need to spend extra cash.

Very well made! Really needs instructions! I could not figure out how to get the three legs to keep the hook centered. Maybe it's a design flaw. Maybe it's not supposed to center at all, and maybe it doesn't matter. It drove me nuts!

Bought this for my husband for his birthday to cook over fire pit. He absolutely loves it!! Great sturdy item and hangs a very full and heavy iron pot. I'm impressed How well it holds up.
