Very good, changed my life
I live in a small flat so I can't say how this works for houses, but right now the extender is 10 metres from the router and the lights are always green, which means the signal is excellent. Supposedly, this thing doesn't improve the speed of the connection and that's probably true but once my signal jumped from 1-2 bars to 5, I connect much faster and I don't have to constantly troubleshoot the connection. My laptop always struggled to connect in this flat, my flatmates' too, so we thought it's a problem with the router, but now it looks like it was the signal. Of course, the speed during the day depends on very many factors and this box isn't a cure for all of them, don't even think that it is, but now in my flat we can stream movies without a problem with just standard broadband (not fibre), at only 8 mega. Fibre might give you 30 mega and that might not even work as well as it should, but before you change the router or your internet provider, try this little box. I was SO frustrated these past several years with my crappy connection, many times I wanted to throw my laptop out the window because it was configured properly but just wouldn't work as it should, but now I don't have this problem anymore. Hallelujah. The instructions say that this box should be relatively close to the router but mine is at 10 metres away, separated from the router by a fridge and a wall and furniture, and it still works perfect. I've had it for several months now and never had any issues. It's easy to install, just follow the simple instructions. Just make sure you do have the kind of connection that is required, read the description of this product before you buy it and check your connection specifications in your computer, because if you don't, you might not be able to use this extender or the installation will be more difficult. I found a manual for my router, also Netgear, and double-checked with an illustration that I do indeed have the WPS button on the router. From then on everything was a piece of cake - and I'm a woman who knows nothing about technology so that tells you something. I can't recommend it enough. It's a life saver, definitely worth the price.

NETGEAR EX2700-100UKS 300 Mbps Wi-Fi Range Extender (Wi-Fi Booster) Silver- EXCELLENT!
NETGEAR EX2700-100UKS 300 Mbps Wi-Fi Range Extender (Wi-Fi Booster) Silver Sold and Dispatched by Amazon I live in a big house with ground floor, floor 1 and floor 2. The original internet router given by my Internet Service Provider, was too far away from my devices (laptop, smartphone) when I was on the top floor. I was getting 1 bar internet signal and many of the times no signal/internet at all! Then, I knew I had to get a Wi-Fi extender and found this!- The "#1 Best Seller in Wireless Access Points" on Amazon and I agree. The item was delivered quick and packed adequately. It's a good size and fits a UK 3-pin socket. Installation was easy-peasy. All I had to do was plug it close to my current router, switch it on, and press the "WPS" on the Wi-Fi extender and then press the "WPS" on the router (you can also connect via browser. Instructions given). Waited a minute and it was connected. Then, I unplugged the Wi-Fi extender and moved it to a location where the Wi-Fi signal is weak (top floor). Then, I had to connect my devices (smartphone, laptop...) by searching for the Wi-Fi device and connecting to it... The Wi-Fi-Extender would be named [***Your existing Wi-Fi network name***_EXT]. For example, "TalkTalk1234_EXT". You'll be asked to enter password your current Wi-Fi password. All of this (the name and the password to access the Extender can be changed via [www. mywifiext.net]. Username: admin, Password: password. This can be changed to. Note, you must be connected to the extender to change these settings. All of these instructions are included. So, I connected the extender on the top floor (where it was 0-1 bar signal with the previous router) and the internet was good for a few minutes. I then realise that although I had excellent/highest signal, Internet was not working. Many others experienced this problem and returned it. I then plugged the extender on the 1st floor, where the signal would normally be 2-3 bars with the router. Then, it worked. No internet problem or loss of connection for more than a month. I RECOMMEND PLACING THE EXTENDER IN AN AREA WHERE YOU WOULD NORMALLY GET 2-3 SIGNAL BAR STRENGTH IF YOU WERE USING YOUR ROUTER PROVIDED BY YOUR INTERNET SERVICE PROVIDER. If you place the extender in an area where you normally get NO Wi-Fi signal or only 1 bar (weak) signal, it will not work. You can check this by using your smartphone- move to a location where you get 'medium signal' when connect to your main router, and then place the extender there. So I placed mine on the 1st floor instead of the top floor. Works brilliantly. No problems. If your device does not support Wi-Fi but can have internet on it, then you can get an Ethernet cable and plug it into the Ethernet port located at the bottom of the extender and connect it to your device. When I go to sleep, I sometimes switch the extender off. Next morning, put it back on, No problem (no setting the extender all over again or anything. Turns on within a minute.) 100% recommend this Wi-Fi Extender. I will give an update after a year. And remember, when buying electrical devices (and even other expensive items) such as smartphones, laptops, network adapters, DVD players, even USBs, etc... Always buy from "Sold and Dispatched by Amazon". - avoid third party sellers and even "fulfilled" sellers as it would reduce the chance of you getting a defect, less hassle if a problem was to occur and getting a genuine product. -----------UPDATE-------------(After 1 year) Nothing to report other than it's work absolutely fine. I'm getting the same Internet speed as if I was connected to the main router. I have changed the log-in password for the Extender and the main router- which I recommend everyone doing to increase security. : If you let ANYONE use your Wifi (i.e. your friend), they can use the default log-in info and change the router settings and mess things up- then you have to call out a network engineer to fix it= incur costs. Also, anyone would be able to block you from the Wifi using the device's Media Access Control (MAC) address, which is a unique identifier for a network device. This Extender has the ability to do this via an Access Control List (ACL). Sounds complicated but it can be done. All good so far. Internet connection never went down. Still recommend. ------------------------------------- Any questions regarding about this item, please leave a comment and I'll get back to you ASAP. I really hope this helps you :)

Does exactly as expected
So far so good. Very very easy to set up. Worked first time with Virgin Media Hub 3. Plug in allow to power up and allow power led to go green. Press WPS on router then asap WPS on extender. Extender locates router, led goes green. Router then sends info to extender plug and internet led goes green. Uses your set SSID and sticks EXT on the end. Great dual band functionality and have managed to use the extender to increase my home security smart CCTV, plugs and lights reliability. Where before they would drop the signal and only use low quality settings. I've asked seller to find power consumption for this unit as can't find it anywhere in the specs or online.

Great Device used on 5Ghz connection. Revised following firmware update.
I was a little sceptical about getting this. I have just moved my desktop PC from one bedroom to another in a 2-bedroom flat. In the first bedroom I was getting connection download speeds of 130+Mbps with a automatic 5Ghz connection. On moving to the second bedroom, just 6 feet from the first, my download speed dropped to 20Mbps with a 2.4Ghz connection. I set up the Netgear EX3110 using the instructions provided for WPS connection. NB: ensure to run the procedure twice as instructed to configure for both the 2. 4Ghz and 5Ghz operation. Once setup I moved the extender to a socket close to my PC inside a utility cupboard. The results at the new PC location are very good when connecting to the _5GEXT option. Speed without Extender (download) 2.4Ghz 19.68Mbps 5Ghz 50.40Mbps Speed with Extender (download) 2.4Ghz 24.57Mbps 5Ghz 80.1Mbps The PC automatically connects directly to the router on 2.4Ghz line and occasionally on the 5Ghz line and I must manual select the _5EXT or _2GEXT options from the system tray WiFi list. This is a bit annoying, and I’ve not been able to make this happen automatically even though I’ve set to connect automatically. For the money this a great extender and I am very pleased with it. After writing the above review I found that by logging in to the device I was able to download new firmware. Following this the device does automatically connect to the _5GEXT. Also found that putting my USB Wi-Fi dongle on a USB extender the USB port speeds improved and became very reliable. Now set to 5stars.

Improves signal, Wi-Fi speed ok
I bought the Mini N300 extender running at the 2.4GHz band only, to extend my current WiFi network and improve signal between my Blink XT cameras and our WiFi. I also boughtr it to improve speeds in some rooms of the house which have a low-medium signal to the existing router. Setup of the extender is very easy, if you use WPS. However what I had not realised was that the extender creates what is basically a second WiFi network with a SSID of the form <SSID>_EXT. Where the SSID value is that of your existing WiFi network. So I was initially confused as to why my Blink cameras were still showing a low signal strength to the WiFi. This was of course because they were connected to the existing WiFI "<SSID>" and not the extension "<SSID>_EXT". Not wanting to re-configure my cameras to connect to the new extender wifi, a quick google showed that its possible to setup the extender manually, specifying your existing SSID (without _EXT) and exact same wifi password, and the extender will broadcast that. Truely extending your current network. Eventually, the Blink cameras showed improved WiFi signal. The N300 was a great purchase I thought. But...and this is the reason for my low rating... When testing broadband speeds (I'm on Fibre 75Mbps) over WiFi using SpeedTest.net either on a laptop or my iPhone, when connected via the N300, the download speed is only about 8-13 Mbps, and upload is shocking, sometimes not achieving 1 Mbps. (This is standing close to the N300, so no walls in the way). If perform the same test in our living room, standing roughly underneath the broadband router in the room above, I can see 40-55 Mbps download and 18-20 Mbps upload. Which is more than acceptable over WiFi. So for me, its solved my orginal requirement, but caused another "problem" because any device that connects through it will not achieve much of an improvement (if any) in WiFi speed, than what they had before [I installed the N300]. Also it seems to be badly affected by the Microwave oven!! As in devices loose connection, if they are connected through the N300! Edit: changed rating from 2 to 3. I have now tried moving the N300 to a more central location in the house (the hallway, rather than dinning room, meaning 1 less wall in the way to router), and speeds have improved to about 20Mbps download. Being slightly further away from the kitchen means connection is not lost as frequently due to the microwave, but it is still affected.

Impressive
I have paid full price for this item so as such it is an unbiased review. Having read the varied reviews for this wifi extender I was a little dubious about committing to it but having bit the bullet I have no regrets as it does exactly what it says on the tin. The provided instruction, 'Quick Start', booklet is very easy to follow but just in case you are having any doubts or need convincing how easy it is I have compiled this simple to follow guide with photos (Please note that my guide is for WPS set up only but this device can be set up manually for WEP using the instructions in the Quick Start booklet) . 1. Plug the extender into a power outlet as close to your router as is possible, please note that it is a three pin UK plug. 2. Press the WPS button on the side of the extender (See photo #3) and the WPS LED should blink (See photo #4). 3. You must now press the WPS button on your router within two minutes. 4. The WPS LED will continue to blink until it has connected with your router it will then be a solid green light (be patient as this can take a minute or so) and the Router Link LED (See photo #5) will be solid green. If you don't get a solid green light (WPS LED) repeat stages 2-3. If it still does not work revert to the Quick Start guide, page 10, for WEP set up as you may have security enabled on your router. 5. Now unplug the extender and plug it into a power oulet mid way between your router and the area where you want to improve wifi coverage. 6. Wait for the Power LED to turn green (photo #1). 7. Ideally you want the Router Link LED (photo #5) to turn solid green (best signal strength) or amber (slightly weaker). 8. If it fails to turn green or amber relocate the extender closer to your Router and repeat stages 5-7. Repeat until you get a green or amber Router Link LED. (My router is located upstairs and I have positioned my extender in the living room downstairs with two brick internal walls and a floorboarded level between them and my wifi has more than doubled in signal strength.) 9. Once you have achieved stage 7 you will need to log your devices (mobile, laptop, Xbox etc) into the Extender. Go into the relevant device settings>wifi and find the relevant network name. It will be your usual router network name i.e. PLUSNET-ABCD with _EXT at the end i.e. PLUSNET-ABCD_EXT. When you are prompted for the security password enter your usual wifi router password. It's as easy as that, mine took literally minutes to set up and I'm no IT geek. It's early days as I only got my extender four days ago but it has been running constantly since then and has drastically improved my wifi downstairs. The unit does run a little bit warm but nothing to get concerned about. For the price I don't think you can better this extender and I have no qualms in recommending this device to family and friends.

Works fine until you try to use it
Utterly useless piece of kit. While I'm no IT whiz, I'm not a novice either, so thought setting it up would be easy. No... or maybe it is if you have a working model. You have two options of setting this up, using WPS or wifi manager. Thinking WPS would be easiest, I gave it a go. First thing to bear in mind is that nowhere in the instructions does it say to wait for the power light to go green after you switch it on. When you first plug it in, the light is orange, wait a minute or two before you try anything. So I pressed the WPS button on the extender and then on the router and waited. Didn't work. I tried several times but no joy. The router and extender just didn't talk to each other. So I tried to use wifi manger. At first it goes get well. There it was, in my list of wifi connections and I connected easily. Now to type in the address to use the set up genie. Oh dear. At best I could get to the first page where I have to tell Netgear I'm in Europe, but no further than that because at this point (or earlier), the extender would restart itself and I'd lose the connection. When it came back and felt like working, I had to refresh the page at which point it would cut out again. Yet when I'm not connected to it it happily sits there without resetting. Arranged for a replacement, which Amazon sent out very promptly and it all seemed very good. Although I still couldn't connect through WPS, going through the network manager was quite quick and very easy - select where you are in the world, choose your network from the list, enter your network password and you're done. It was all set up within minutes. Once done and I was able to get online until...... oh dear. Yet again, a nice stable connection as long as you don't try to use it. The longest I stayed connected was 1 minute and 5 seconds, the shortest was 48 seconds before without warning it resets itself. Bear in mind that from a reset it takes around 2 minutes to fully start I was spending more time waiting for a connection than I spent connected. Utter, utter waste of time

Best wifi extender
It has a strong wifi booster. Both 2G and 5G. Before I could not stream because of weak wifi signal. Now werything runs smoothly.
