I recently tried the STAEDTLER 8704 01 BK FIMO Clear Gloss Varnish for Polymer Modelling Clay, and I'm quite pleased with the results. The varnish added a beautiful glossy finish to my polymer clay creations, enhancing their overall appearance and giving them a professional look. The application process was straightforward, and the varnish dried relatively quickly without any noticeable streaks. My only minor concern was that I needed to apply multiple thin coats to achieve the desired level of glossiness, but the final outcome was worth the extra effort. The bottle's size is convenient and will likely last through several projects. Overall, this clear gloss varnish is a reliable option for adding a polished finish to polymer clay creations, and I would recommend it to fellow crafters seeking to elevate the aesthetic of their pieces. It is quite costly for the small pot you get.

Goes a long way, not sticky at all. A life saver!

I bought this together with the air drying modelling clay. I used this to varnish small items that I made using the fimo clay. It is a gloss varnish and adds a lovely look to the items that have been varnished. A little goes a long way and after varnishing all of our small items that we had made, it has hard to even see that we had used any varnish at all. I only applied one coat of varnish but you could use multiple layers and allow to dry between each coat. I am pleased with this varnish and the size is convenient. The lid seals tightly closed. As it is water based, it is also convenient to use this varnish on many other craft projects apart from using it with the modelling clay.

I got this to use as a gloss coating for my polymer clay earrings. It is a good product, but doesn’t quite give the gloss look I was imagining, and think I might switch to another option instead. Good for if you’re starting out though, and may be better with other craft projects

Buscaba una caja de navidad para regalar unos tarros de conserva y no encontraba nada, así que un día paseando por la calle, iban a tirar un cajón de fruta de madera en la frutería y me lo regalaron. Lo limpié muy bien y lo decoré con servilletas de navidad que tenía por casas, las pegué con la cola blanca del colegio de mis hijos, quedó genial pero notaba que no tenía un buen acabado. Entonces me puse a investigar y encontré este producto que tiene un tamaño muy pequeño en comparación con otras personas que lo usan bastante, pero como no es mi caso, que era de uso puntual he tenido de sobra. de hecho le di dos capas a la caja y me sobró la mitad. Ha quedado genial, le ha dado un brillo satinado. Les encantó la caja y el tarro de conservas ;)

Tested about 9 glazes on baked polymer clay jewelry and this is my favorite. Doesn't leave streak marks, doesn't feel tacky when dry like a few of the others I tested.

Die Fimo-Lacke verleihen den fertigen Werkstücken Schutz, Schlagfestigkeit und ein gleichmäßiges Finish. Vor allem für Perlen war mir das einzelne Bepinseln immer zu langwierig, weshalb ich zunächst mit Sprühlacken herumexperimentiert habe (Acryl-, Alkyd- oder Nitrobasis). Diese werden jedoch alle nach einiger Zeit klebrig. Daher habe ich es schlussendlich doch mal mit dem original Fimo-Lack versucht. Sie sind wirklich einwandfrei geeignet, auch für Modellierkneten anderer Hersteller (also z. B. Premo oder Sculpey). Der Lack ist überraschend einfach und schnell aufzutragen. Er verläuft gut und und trocknet rasch, jedoch ohne dass man sich sonderlich hetzen muss. Kleine Patzer verzeiht er einem problemlos. Auch bereits lackierte Werkstücke dürfen noch einmal in den Ofen: 130 °C Backtemperatur übersteht er problemlos und fängt auch nicht an zu stinken. Der Lack ist zwar recht ergiebig, dennoch sind die kleinen Gebinde nicht ganz billig. Tipp: da ich mittlerweile vermute, dass es ein PU-Lack ist, könnte Parkettlack evtl. eine günstigere Alternative sein, die ich auch noch austesten werde. Ums Pinseln kommt man wohl leider nicht rum. ;)
