Smell is not manly, it does smell great in my opinion. Every time I open the tub to use it, I find my self inhaling the scent a few times haha **Q: Is this water based? It tends to just flop down and lie flat on my head after a few hours of being out and about. This product is the best solution I’ve found so far: it’s easy to apply and adds wonderful volume and texture that lasts all day. The hold is decent but not rock hard, so can be reshaped but doesn’t fall out of place easily. It also works well when my hair’s on the long side, so it’s a great all-rounder. I love the smell, but understand that it might not be for everyone. It washes out easily. It's a pleasure to apply and style your hair in to place and leaves a lovely natural looking matte finish with no greasiness at all. The hold is great on my short hair, and I can re-style with my hands throughout the day as necessary. I also appreciate how easily it washes, rinsing out with just water so I don't have to shampoo every day.The one thing preventing me giving this the full five stars is the scent. Or more specifically the strength of the scent. It actually smells quite pleasant in the jar but once in the hair I find it way too strong for my liking and it really lingers. I feel quite self conscious when wearing it, especially at work in an office environment.
