Good value XC Mountain Bike Shoe
Fit well and are comfortable on longer rides. The rubber soles are nice for walking around, at least in a stiff XC shoe. The BOA closures are easy to operate and enable you to get a good snug fit without pinching or hot spots.

Compensate size for these narrow for size shoes
The shoes are well built as you would expect a Shimano product to be. The BOA system is easy to use but if your hands are a little sweaty the release pull may take another try to to release. Having said that, they are quick to put on and get going and even with the occasional second try on release, quicker than multi buckle/strap designs. As others have said the shoes are narrow. I have "normal" width size 10 feet but I ordered to 10- 10.5 size in the dropdown to compensate. Because of this, the toebox is a little long, but the BOA cable snugs your foot down and back applying even pressure to your foot from just behind thr toes to the instep. If you prefer a tighter hold on one section of your foot over another you probably should look at another model. I like the softer durometer sole as I'm primarily using these on a training bike and dont want to scuff my floors. I am pleased with the shoes and recommended them given you're okay with the caveats above.

Even better than expected!
These shoes are making me happier than I expected. The filament and its holding loops are pretty sturdy, the shoe fits well and doesn’t flop around while clipped, and the shoes look good. Main use is commuting on a combination of city streets and commuter trains, so I’m putting them through their paces in a rough environment!

Great Value First SPD Shoes
These were my first clipless shoes. I didn’t want to spend a lot of money because I wasn’t sure if I was going to stay with clipless. In experienced rider in general. Use it for my gravel bike. I’ve climbed hills off my bike, walked through streams several times and pedaled about 150 miles. The material is quite good, the flex is fine and I don’t notice any gaps or movement while riding. The grip is REALLY good on dirt uphill and down. This was really impressive and I haven’t slipped at all with these on dirt. One of the downsides, due to this bein budget minded model, is the BOA being in the middle along the “lace” section. So you cannot customize the tightness by your toes and on top of your foot. While this doesn’t feel like it affects my foot clipped in, I do plan to move to a dual adjust system on my next pair. Recommend sizing up 1 size if you have a normal to higher width foot. I usually wear 10.5, went with the size 46(11-11.5). Great shoes for getting started and will get it done for you and get miles in.

Comfort and perfect sizing
These are my most comfortable biking shoes! I bought a second pair after a couple of years of use of the first pair. Sizing was perfect for my 11.5 foot

Sized small
Sizing is definitely one size small. The single boa adjustment and the top flap overlapping closure design make for a difficult entry and coupled with the snug sizing I found a shoe horn was necessary even with lite weight socks. All else was good so I exchanged for one size larger.

Don’t Judge a Cycling Shoe on First Impressions
Don’t judge a show on your first impression! When I tried these on, they felt flimsy, and the size (45/10.5 US) seemed like it was going to be too big. My fingers paused over the return button, but I figured I’d out the SPD cleats on them and give them a go. They were lightweight, hugged my feet with the comfort of a wool sock, and stiff on the souls. I was quite surprised and very happy. As I write this review, I have ridden with these shoes around 100 miles or more, and they’ve been very forgettable, which is a good thing for a cycling shoe. You don’t want to think about them being there. I’ll say that I bought these to replace my Specialized Bodyfit shoes that had grown too old to use. Initially, I purchased Lake Cycling shoes that were great, but they were too small and hurt my toes, despite supposedly being a perfect fit. I found these after some research for less expensive options to replace the Lakes when I didn’t want to pedal in pain. I’ve been very happy with them. The blisters caused by the Lake shoes have gradually gone away as I’ve worn these cleats. I hope to have these as my go-to cycling shoes for years to come.
