Excellent SSD and a must for any iMac using El Capitan
Excellent SSD. It comes also with some SW presumably aimed at cloning the old HD but I cannot comment on it since I did not use it. The SSD has transformed my iMac and I really think that any El Capitan Mac user needs an SSD main drive these days. My experience I used the SSD to replace the HDD of my iMac which after installing EL Capitan OSx became very slow at booting up. I did a new clean install of El Capitan OSx10.11.3 and the booting time improved dramatically. It is now 40-50 sec in order to reach the state of full usability (and about 15-20 sec to reach the first login page and being already useable). It used to be 20 min to reach some decent usability and about 1 hour(!) to reach full stability. Also W10 machines benefit greatly with SSD but not as much as this! I think this is because El Capitan seems to run a huge process of "optimisation" in the background after start up, swapping constantly data to and from the main HDD and the RAM. This seems to go on even longer when using many USB external drives attached to the iMac as I do. Such process lasts a really long time and effectively subtracts HDD bandwidth for the normal use. Almost all of it at the beginning. It only loads the CPUs very little but the IMac becomes very unresponsive nonetheless until this initial process slowly becomes less demanding on the HDD and one can regain control of his/her machine. All of this disappears with the SSD and of course opening inactive applications at any time is much faster with SSD. So I now returned to use my iMac normally! With the old HDD I eventually resolved to let it always ON and to keep some 10 or so applications always active. Doing this made the iMac as fast as it is now with the SSD (or just a little slower perhaps) but I did experienced crashes which I think related to HDD glitches. I also worried that wearing down the HDDs would eventually lead to failure and a potential loss of data. This SSD has restored my user experience to the level I always enjoyed from iMacs, despite the shortcoming of the latest Apple OSx.

Excellent performance over a typical HDD and good upgrade if you don't have an SSD yet
The Samsung 850 EVO 250 GB is a solid-state drive (SSD) that offers excellent performance and reliability at an affordable price point. As someone who recently upgraded my computer's storage, I decided to give the 850 EVO a try and have been thoroughly impressed with its performance. First off, the 850 EVO offers excellent read and write speeds, which provide quick and responsive performance for both everyday use and demanding applications. The drive also features Samsung's 3D V-NAND technology, which increases the drive's endurance and reliability. In terms of installation, the 850 EVO was incredibly easy to install. The drive features a 2.5-inch form factor, which makes it compatible with most desktop and laptop computers. The drive also includes Samsung's Data Migration software, which makes it easy to transfer data from an existing drive to the 850 EVO. Another standout feature of the 850 EVO is its energy efficiency. The drive requires less power than traditional hard drives, which helps to reduce power consumption and extend battery life for laptops. Overall, I have been thoroughly impressed with the Samsung 850 EVO 250 GB. It offers excellent performance, reliability, and energy efficiency at an affordable price point. While it may not have the same level of storage capacity as more expensive SSDs, the 850 EVO provides more than enough storage for most users and is a great investment for anyone looking to upgrade their computer's storage.

Best in-class SSD for it's price.
I have been purchasing the 250GB 850 Evo pretty much since it was released and was near the £100 price point, all the way upto now when they've dropped to an irresistable £60 price point. There is no better SSD in it's class to get for many reasons (the other sizes also), some of these reasons being important such as reliability, stability, and of course speed; Reliability and Stability - it goes without saying that all SSDs are reliable but the fact that Samsung's own SSDs are fully built in-house with all major components being developed and manufactured by Samsung themselves (the MGX processor, RAM, the NAND storage, the firmware, and also it's manufacture). As they developed their own processor, you can be rest assured that their firmware will be stable and oriented towards the best in general performance with stability and excellent wear levelling in mind. They know their own NAND storage very well, seeing as they designed and manufactured it so this is expected. Nearly all other branded SSDs adopt third party processors for their SSDs and hence they need to write the firmware based on the processor datasheets and with help from the third party. There will usually always be issues that need ironing out with firmware, some major, some minor. Some don't even manufacture their own NAND or RAM either, nor the SSD production itself. Samsung is a one-house solution and that reason alone is enough to select a Samsung SSD for your boot storage. Performance - we can write an essay here but if you look at benchmarks and round-up's online you'll see the Samsung SSD's top the charts in general. However, in real-world terms (and I have installed these SSDs into laptops as old as 2008 Core 2 Duo based, all the way upto 5th Generation Core i7 laptops) their performance is always slightly or a lot better than that of others regardless of benchmark nitpicks. Even in old laptops running on older SATA II 3GBPs, the Samsung SSD's thanks to their design and quality always excel on random performance and this is what's important within Windows. Their MGX processor, firmware, and the NAND itself help matters greatly here. Thirdly, from deploying at least 100 of the 850 Evo since their launch, there is yet to be any serious failure (among a large variance of laptop makes/models/specs). And this statistic held up for us with the previous 840 Evo and Pro models also. As for endurance, I wouldn't worry about this under general laptop use unless you are doing a heavy amount of writing, then the 850 Pro should be on your list. However you will find plenty of simulation data online from third party reviewers and will see that even an 850 Evo will hold up for at least several years under heavy writing conditions. Of course there's no excuse to keep all important data backed up because of uncontrollable factors (failure, fire, theft, etc.) I would always recommend a clean installation of Windows onto an SSD. Cloning your current operating system is only a secondary option. Disabling Superfetch/Prefetch, lowering the pagefile to 1024MB, disabling Hibernation (unless you require it - maximises storage space), and disabling Auto Defragment should be the first things you do after installing chipset and SATA drivers. On Windows 8.1 and above, you don't need to do much at all apart from tweak the pagefile.
