The Big Alfie And Annie Rose Storybook

Alfie & Annie Rose have to be 2 of the most wonderful characters for pre-school children. Alfie must be about 4 & his sister about 2, so just the ages of the children who will be having this book read to them. There are several stories in the book, each of just the right length for a child of this age. The great thing about Alfie & Annie Rose is that they do everyday things that children do. My favourite story is about Alfie's new wellingtons which don't feel quite right when he puts them on for the first time to go to the park. Getting your boots on the wrong feet is just the everyday thing that happens to all children. The books are beautifully illustrated in a slightly old fashioned manner which works well with the stories themselves. These were a firm favourite in our house with the children & also with their Grandma who loved to read them these stories. In fact, I couldn't resist buying this book for my great nephew last year.

Lovely Alfie compilation. Ordered for my 2 year old as we love the individual Alfie stories. I think she will appreciate it more when she is older as it has a few long stories with fewer pictures than the individual story books. Better for slightly older children probably 3+

Fast delivery, like new, heirloom quality book series

I loved this book as a child i’m 29 now, i read it to my daughter and it just brought back all the memories. this was brought for my premature daughter who is in NICU as i wanted a children’s book that was a lengthier read than typical baby books. very happy with it and was one of my faves , maybe could be hers to one day too

Great second hand book that the kids love reading

I have loved the Alfie and Annie Rose books for many years, and bought this to send to my Godson so that he and his family can enjoy them as much as I did as he grows up. The illustrations are so beautifully crafted, and the stories and characters so warm and realistic.

Shirley Hughes writes with an understanding of young children that is hard to match. My sons used to love her books and now my grandsons. The four year old in particular, closely identifies with Alfie, even though the illustrations and some situations are from England in the seventies. I am from England, and so that probably also contributes to the nostalgia that the books create for me.
