I come with 2 metal plates but they don’t tell you one of them is smaller size, because of that it doesn’t hold as well as it should. Also took 2 weeks to get my package despite of having prime and Amazon could have care less about the poor service.

I rarely write reviews but after reading all the negative reviews on this I felt I needed to say something. I am the driver supervisor for a trucking company and I manage a fleet of 36 trucks. All of our trucks have the MagicMount Pro Dash mounts in them. However, when one of the trucks break down and we have to get a rental we use the MagicMount Universal Vent Mount so the drivers still have a way of mounting their phones. These things have been put in and taken out of trucks more times than I can count and they still work great. We run Volvo, Freightliner, and International trucks and they work in all of them. These things worked so well that I bought 2 of them for myself to use in our vehicles. With that said, this is where the 4 star rating comes in. I found the one flaw with these mounts; they are not truly universal, they don't fit every vent out there! I have a 2014 Ford fusion and a 2004 Ford F-350, my in-laws have a 2004 Chevy Impala and a 2005 GMC Jimmy and they work perfectly in all of them. My wife has a 2007 Ford Expedition and my father in-law has a 2012 Ford F-450 and they DO NOT work in either of them. The vents in the Expedition and the F-450 are basically the same and are too thick. When I tried to put one in the Expedition it broke one of the clips that hold the vent. I recommend MagicMount to everyone I know and have had several friends and family members buy mounts for their vehicles. My advice is, if you are looking to buy one of these mounts, make sure you check the thickness of your vents before you buy. These are not 1 size fits all and only work with the thinner style vents.

I have a cheap case, and it proved too thick for the magnets to do their job. The magnet wouldn't adhere to the back of the case, and so I was forced to install directly on the back of the phone. As mentioned, the magnets weren't strong enough to work through the case. So, since I was faced with trashing it, I elected to cut a hole in the back of my cheap case, to reveal the magnet. It works well now....but I have a chopped up whole in the back of my case. Now that it works and hold well, I learned the phone now blocks a lot of cooling air out of that vent. When I need the phone there, I use it; otherwise, I remove the phone and the mount to eliminate the air restriction. Next time I will chose a mount that doesn't block the A/C vent.
